Love this programme. But, we know so much more history now. Daphne du Maurier horses that her and her friend Foy used were from the Jamaica Inn, so they could find their way back to the location, which they did. The following November 1931 she met with the local vicar, Charles Triplett, who told her stories of smuggling and wreakers, inspiring her to write her famous novel of the same name. We now know it was built by a former Sea Captain called John Broad in 1776 as a dwelling house and farm.
