I have no idea how any of them made it through that last part without bursting into tears. I was a complete sobbing mess after the second one.

I know I am super late to the party with this comment, but i just wanna say: As Liam said, it can be pretty scary putting yourself out there and DMing a homebrew session (especially when you're following the genius of Matt Mercer) let alone also telling the people in your life how much they truly mean to you and airing it live on the internet for the scrutiny of millions. I think what Liam did here was not only creative brilliance, but incredibly brave as well. He really shared a part of himself with the world and I think everyone would agree that we are all richer for having experienced it.

The entire time Robot Liam was talking to his friends, I was reminded of a quote by Anne Frank, that says: "Dead people receive more flowers than living ones because regret is stronger than gratitude." Thank you Liam, for being brave enough, strong enough and vulnerable enough to openly share your appreciation and love for your friends. He shattered society's rules of "keeping your feelings to yourself". We all take for granted our friends will be there for us but in actuality, we aren't promised a tomorrow. Do your friends know how much you love them? Have you just assumed they know how you feel? What are you willing to risk by keeping your emotions to yourself? By keeping quiet, are you unknowingly risking your friendship?... Or perhaps risking worse? Suicide rates have arisen because of COVID-19 and I challenge anyone reading this to call your friends and let them know they are loved and missed. Because, statistically speaking, many of us will regret saying nothing.

I know everyone but Matt catches flak for laughing at the Speak-n-Spell, but if you watch all their faces, and especially Taliesin and Travis's eyes - Taliesin looks on the verge of emotional outburst the whole time, and Travis is blinking like he's holding back tears by the time he gets to Laura's part. They may have all laughed at the hilarity of Liam busting out his trump card, but there's a level of appreciation and love from all of them there that I'm sure is lost on a lot of us.

The story of this one shot is Liam telling his friends all of what he feels about them. Because he missed that chance when losing his family member so he wanted to make sure that it didn't happen again. He hasn't publicly talked much about how bad he was during that time but you can draw your own conclusions.

I know it's been pointed out, several times. But I love how Matt knew that those final moments with Liam weren't actually a joke. You can see the weight of Liam's words on Matt's face. He had so much respect and humility for Liam at that moment.

Having watched Between The Sheets, I think it may also have a lot to do with how similar Matt’s experiences were to Liam’s. It wasn’t that the others were being disrespectful, they just had a little bit further to go to connect to Liam’s story, whereas it instantly clicked for Matt. It’s also why of the entire cast, Liam and Matt are the two I feel the most kindred with. Marisha is the one I most want to become, but Liam and Matt are who I have been.

I mean Liam outright said they had to kill him to save themselves, but they refused and ended up being sent back anyway. So the way I see it, Matt's gambit worked and Liam was able to send them back to a point in time before he was taken.

Okay, I know this three years old now, but there is something I think is important to say. Yes, this is a very touching and beautiful way for Liam to tell his friends what they mean to him and how they have helped him through his hard times. But I want to say if any of you are ever in a situation where a friend does something like this after going through a very hard time, it does not mean it is over and something like this could very well be someone's actual goodbyes before they attempt to take their own life. If you have someone in your life who has gone through great struggle and is one day very 'happy' or going out of their way to appreciate those around, please do not assume all is well. The decision to end things can often make someone look as is they have returned to normal.

@@kuropotato8097 No, I think BBQ Squid has a point. I also assumed - since Liam would know Matt wouldn't mean such an insult - that it was a compliment phrased in an unflattering way as a joke. But their comment made me realize that robo Liam said that they took him away 'because he was special/different' So Matt IS warning him by going 'if someone tells you you're special, don't believe them'. He just combined it flawlessly into the pre-game heckling they've got going on.
