One of my favorite things about this channel is how she never says anything. She never acknowledges the viewer and thats kinda cool. Like she purely does this for herself and we happen to be allowed to listen.

nasah99 Yeah that’s cool. I’m more talking about in the videos themselves. We are a fly on the wall while she’s doing her thing. She doesn’t look at the camera and say “please make sure to like share and subscribe” and all that.

@@raphymartinez you are very right. I think it's because she's a truly professional musician. I recall in her YT bio she also wrote she won't take requests for songs. The channel showcases her artistry. Julia's work speaks for itself.

Most people wouldn't notice, but as a musician this is spectacular! Slow peaces and especially expressive ones like this one are way harder than the upbeat fun ones, but damn does this girl just nail it. The most impressive part is - she just does it in one take, no cuts, tempo is like a recording.... it will be a shame when aliens come and take her back...

@@nentihaiudittu Yep. I've played guitar/bass for a long time but have started learning drums lately, and a slow groove is stupidly hard to keep tight and swinging. The tendency to rush is so difficult to avoid when you are first learning an instrument.
@mooncorp212
@mooncorp212 4 жыл бұрын
This is true in many instruments. I'm learning batucada, the maestre told us playing slow is harder than fast, because the groove is more precise, and I knew that 20 years ago when I was a jazzfunk bass player too :)

I'm too old and unfit to follow all these covid good intention keep fit youtube channels. Julia is my alternative, she provides 3 vital services with each release: 1 - Her bass covers always sound fresh, this makes me feel mentally happy and uplighted during these tough times. 2 - Her grooves always get my head nodding uncontrollably, along with my right foot tapping which equals a great form of physical excercise ;-) 3 - She is always introducing me to new music, that would otherwise pass me by. Thanks Julia for sharing your love of bass and keeping it real. Please don't turn into yet another youtube narcissist. I'm convinced your subscribers not only appreciate your talent but also your modesty.

Julia, how are you liking the short scale Stingray compared to your other basses? I have the same one and I love it! After I started playing short scale basses a few years ago, it was hard to go back to standard scale because the short scale is so comfortable and easy by comparison (for me). Anyway, I love that you don't use your channel for talking or pushing a product. You seem really humble and real and I think that's why people love you so much more. I hope you're doing well with everything! Thank you for the killer grooves. You've gotten me into a lot of new music I didn't know about. I appreciate your selection of tunes. :)

I'm not here to comment about your epic playing, more people have said enough, but damn this video's visual is amazing. The sofa, the laptop, everything is balanced and aesthetically pleasing.
