Like all of us with any kind of art. I often felt discouraged by seeing art that is much better than my art. There will always be someone better than us (unless we're literally the best), but art is mostly about enjoying while doing it. And Charles is enjoying the hell out of that bass, it seems XD skills improve gradually, as long as we don't give up on practicing and stay determined, we won't get discouraged. And the inspiration part will help us close the gap :D

What I like about Charles is no matter how technically advances his skills become his stuff still sounds like music. My biggest beef with some unbelievably talented bass players is that they are so good they aren't a pleasure to listen to anymore. Charles stuff is always music to my ears!

I have the same issues with certain guitarists who are technical phenoms, such as Steve Vai or Yngwe Malmsteen , but how about just writing a song. They could take a lesson on songwriting from someone like Angus Young - just write a song, please, and quit showing off your mastery of math formulas. 😺

My dad would have loved this video. He played Bass for 60+ years and was always looking for some great players. Sadly he passed in 2014. He had many Basses and he gave some away to young musicians. We had a Christian band from South America travel around and they came to our home church. The airline lost the Bass player's Bass and dad had a new Kubicki 5 string and he just gave it to the young player. Said if you are going to play for the Lord, you should play on one of the best there is. The dude was crying. But that was just dad. He would have loved to sit and watch you guys' videos for hours. He would call me all the time if he found a great video. Thanks for all your hard work. I posted this on Davie's channel too!
