Like all of us with any kind of art. I often felt discouraged by seeing art that is much better than my art. There will always be someone better than us (unless we're literally the best), but art is mostly about enjoying while doing it. And Charles is enjoying the hell out of that bass, it seems XD skills improve gradually, as long as we don't give up on practicing and stay determined, we won't get discouraged. And the inspiration part will help us close the gap :D

What I like about Charles is no matter how technically advances his skills become his stuff still sounds like music. My biggest beef with some unbelievably talented bass players is that they are so good they aren't a pleasure to listen to anymore. Charles stuff is always music to my ears!

My dad would have loved this video. He played Bass for 60+ years and was always looking for some great players. Sadly he passed in 2014. He had many Basses and he gave some away to young musicians. We had a Christian band from South America travel around and they came to our home church. The airline lost the Bass player's Bass and dad had a new Kubicki 5 string and he just gave it to the young player. Said if you are going to play for the Lord, you should play on one of the best there is. The dude was crying. But that was just dad. He would have loved to sit and watch you guys' videos for hours. He would call me all the time if he found a great video. Thanks for all your hard work. I posted this on Davie's channel too!

Reminds me of my sister playing her cello. Many cello music is played close to the edge of the fingerboard. She asked her teacher why to take so much trouble, trying to make a cello sound exactly like a violin. Why not play that music on a violin?! Get real!

I've watched Charles for well over a year. Tbh, I was beginning to think I had lost the ability to be surprised/impressed by his work...i had become somewhat jaded. Well, consider me blown fully away. I'm a bassist and I can't comprehend what I just watched.

Genuine question, Has there ever been a bassist capable of performing at the fantastically insane level of Charles? I’m a bass player with countless shows and recording hours behind me, yet my mind starts to melt and flow out of my ears just trying to comprehend what I’m witnessing.
