I dunno. I kinda liked this game.
And, as a bonus, I've thrown in the first few minutes of "The Joker's Wild", which aired immediately after (there would be more, but, you, the tape kinda ran out).
I'm guessing the Liar's Club episode originally aired in 1976 or '77 (alas, whoever was syndicating the reruns liked to cut off the credits a little early). This rerun comes from the USA cable network and aired on Thursday, March 26, 1987.

It's also worth noting that the show's announcer Bill Berry was also the voice of KTLA (on which this season originally aired locally, and where it would tape for its entire 70s run).

Thanks so much for sharing...I remember watching LC reruns on USA as a kid, and would say this airing is from about mid-1987.

Wow, thanks! I don't think I ever saw the original series before, just The New Liar's Club.

This episode of Liars Club is the once-weekly version which aired locally in L.A. over KTLA Channel 5 on Saturday night in 1976, sometime before the 5-time-a-week syndicated version later that year (which had better music, provided by the late Stan Worth). Four Star syndicated the old episodes at around the same time they were distributing "The New Liar's Club" with Eric Boardman in the 80s..

This probably aired between 1974-1975 weekly on KTLA before it went syndicated in 1976. The theme music was different (composed by Stan Worth most likely) as well as the scoring system at times such as when it first began, each contestant had to choose their own celebrity different from others depending on the odds (i.e. 2:1 (first) - 20:1 (last)). That was made done away with once a contestant actually won $12,000 in addition to his existing score on a 20:1 bet which USA did air at least once.

The Eric Boardman version was made in Vancouver, Canada, with a shoestring-TIP budget. Boardman had been a cast member on Tim Conway's 1980 variety show.

@@meyerj75 During the Rod Serling era (1968-69), stock production music was used. The Stan Worth music came into being when the show went into syndication in 1976. For the year it was locally aired on KTLA (1975-76) the theme was "Mad River Rock" by Jack Shaindlin. Gary Peterson composed the theme for the 1988-89 version produced in Canada.

29:09 is the Four Star logo from 1984, one of the last logos ever made until the company was defunct by the late 1980’s.

I kinda liked the original Liar's Club with Rod Sterling from 1969 better. Anything he was on made the show more surreal for obvious reasons. There's an episode of it on KZbin which also has Betty White as an panelist.

The Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows (2nd Edition) made no mention of Liar's Club ever airing for 14 months on the USA Network whether David Schwartz, Steve Ryan, & Fred Wostbrock forgot that or not. It began around April 1986 (Exact date unknown) at the 3:00 Eastern time slot replacing last season repeats of the 1970s version of Candid Camera and last aired at the 2:30 time slot on 6-26-1987. That and Bullseye repeats were swapped with Hot Potato repeats and Bumper Stumpers, a game show Wink Martindale created. Seems like Liar's Club was more underrated than, say, Match Game.

It's all from the same recording. Doesn't mean the episode didn't get run more than once on USA.

A month later, it would swap places with Play the Percentages, another Jack Barry Dan Enright property game show.

Sorry in advance if this is a spoiler comment, but what I want to know is how did Four Star get the Liars Club?
