Не стоит покрывать краской древесину работающую в воде. Поначалу красиво,после сезона на воде- тихий ужас,вследствии намокания и высыхания древесины покрытие потрескается и облезет.что самое противное местами и кусками.у нас классически наружные поверхности пропитывают смолой сосны.не знаю есть ли у вас это вещество.не подумайте что дурно отзываюсь о вашей работе,просто попытка поделиться опытом.

Very similar to what we built as I grew up in Eastern NC here in the 🇺🇸 The one I had as a young man was a man and a half, as we called it. Pirogue style. Basically a 30 degree wedge with planking attached to each side and then work out the lines and shape by eye and mark the bottom. The biggest difference was ours was made of 3/8 ply wood and fir, not planking. We also had a fish box with two holes in the bottom for water to flow through and keep the fish alive.

Very clever way to build a solid plank boat.the circular saw trick to get straight edge joins for the boards was brilliant my only question would be why use metal pins instead of wooden dowels? But a very nice build I bet it would adapt well for a catamaran

Wooden dowels must be drilled with extreme accuracy to line up; while narrow nails will bend when the two boards are joined to conform to little irregularities.

Actually... He made holes on one side and then used one plank as the nail head. It means that he doesn't need to align the nails to holes -- just hammer them into the other plank. Heh I haven't seen anything as lazy or as effective. Love it.

You did fine work in building this handsome boat. Two questions: 1. What kind of wood did you use for the side and bottom planks in the boat? 2. Did you ever try paddling from near the middle of the boat instead of one end? My 17-foot canoe moves faster and more easily this way. The metal pins appear to be a superior thought process over wood pins anyway. The waterproof glue is obviously never going to allow one board to be separated from another again. So I see metal pins as being a three four times faster.

Nice little boat. Basically a dory. A working fishing boat. Simple to build, rows pretty easily, carries a good load, pretty stable with as load and when being in fishing nets over the sides. The basic design is seen in open ocean and many river running boats all over the world. Good work!

Con clavos de fierro i se construye ninguna clase de embarcaciones porque el fierro oxida con la humedad y malogra toda la madera. Para toda construcción de embarcaciones se necesita tornillos de bronce y de cobre .

In Louisiana we’ve built those for over a century. We call them pirogues. Very useful and used by many to this day.

Di kampung saya sampan seperti ini tidak terhitung jumlahnya di tepi pantai. Tapi tidak ada satupun yang menggunakan dayung seperti itu. Kelihatannya sangat ribet dan memperlambat gerakan sampan. di kampung saya cara mendayung tidak kanan kiri. Cukup hanya di kanan. Sekalian mengemudi
