I met Liberace in 1983 in Palm Springs. He used to take his vintage London taxi car to the airport and offer tourists free rides to their hotel as well as pick up any guests he had coming in to stay at his home. I was there as part of touring musical act doing the tourists area of CA and Nevada. He was at the airport waiting for guests with is taxi. He stood on the sidewalk and talked to everyone who came up to him, signed autographs, took photos, shook hands for a good 30min before his guests arrived. You couldn't have asked for a more gracious and kind celebrity.

@theplayerformerlyknownasmo37117 жыл бұрын
Charles Anthony see, that's another generalization that's not very intelligent to make. Just because you don't listen to today's music, and by no means do I mean top 40, I mean the real music hidden in today's musical landscape. The only real reason you notice all these things going wrong is because you actually get to see everything that goes wrong now. Back in the day you just read a newspaper with a select few items to take up, now we have instant access to every awful thing. And as for musicians now a days using computers, it's not like you type in the word "song" and you get a song and boom that's a hit. That's borderline retarded thinking if that's what you think music is in 2017.

I have NEVER, in 15 years, clicked a like button making me the 666th person, as i purposely avoid it. Until now. Never have watched a Liberace video until now. This is bringing memories to my head as Liberace has been the butt end of gay jokes amongst my friends and I during my ignorant punk days. This guy is absolutely amazing, and Im glad im sitting here alone in the couch enjoying his talant tonight! Tonight i shall ask God forgiveness for my past terrible heart, and hopefully soon pick an album up for my wife and I to have great traveling music :)

jeff monahan there is no " new " music . what is promoted publicly most of that is deliberate suppression. We aren't supposed to have anything wholesome or particularly skilled. The alphabets control it and even publish as much. Reduced people are easier to control

I used to be turned off by the personal life of this artist, but then I began to think, what are we supposed to really be paying attention to, his reason for being on this planet, or his personal life. After being aware of this man's talent for so many years, and even running into him one day in the Atlanta airport, I started an amazing path to really understand and appreciating his talent, truly one of a kind that we will probably never see again. My grandparents loved his music and all his showmanship; I just wish I had paid more attention to him while he was alive. What a true diamond he was; wish he were here now with us.

Fred Bradley YOU were "turned off by this artist". Darling, YOU turn EVERYONE off, with your FACE! LOL PLEEEEASE!
@lancslass-uk61748 жыл бұрын
Fred didn't say that .. he said that he was turned off by THE PERSONAL LIFE of this artist. Please read things properly before you comment. There is no need for you to be rude Michael. I totally agree with Fred too!

LancsLass-UK I know quite-exactly what I read, and what I've written. My only response to you too, is you ALSO are a BIGOT. lol It's 2017. GROW THE FUCK UP, MEATHEAD. You can't like someone's work without also liking the person creating it. Troll.
@MrFredlyb8 жыл бұрын
Hey idiot, you need to know how to read, but maybe you never got that far in school? I said I was turned off by his PERSONAL LIFE, then I went on to say how great of an artist he was and that is what we should be paying attention to instead of his personal life. Learn how to read.

Fred...I agree. What an excellent master he was in playing the piano. Lee's personal life was very hard for me to appreciate after it came out in the public open, but truly...this man enjoyed playing for people. He WAS "Mr. Showmanship" My wife & I saw him in concert in Indianapolis back in the summer of 1977. After that show, and all his shows, you didn't forget that what you saw was pleasant & memorable. I have the souvenir program book of that '77 concert. It was fun to see lots of the ladies swoon at his good looks. Yes...there may never be another like the one and only Liberace. He dearly "paid his dues' in the history book of top entertainers!

That man is a once-in-a-millenium phenomenon. Not just because he is a genius at the piano. But the mix of charisma, beauty, glamour, sweetness, his infectious excitement about what he is doing - he blows my mind every time. And sooo endearing: his impish joy showing off his robes - like the joy of a little kid - - - yeah, he is what I need right now during these gruelling times we live in nowadays...

I was only a young lad but count myself blessed that my father took me to at least 5 of his shows when he played at the Nugget in Sparks, NV or up at the Sahara Tahoe back in the late 60's and early 70's. He was truly an entertainer with a beautiful talent.

I lived in Sherman Oaks as did Liberace and one day he parked his beautiful 1954 black Cadillac El Dorado convertible in front of our house and walked to a nearby speciallty shop. I got my 5 year old little cousin and took her to the shop and with her autograph book and he was so nice talking to us and signed with his customary flourish and drew a piano along with his signature. I was most impressed by the car with black and white leather featuring piano keys across the seats stitched in !
