The owners are as much of a "story" as the cars and Bernie comes in very near, or at the top, of that group of individuals. Quite the "character" !! 14:00 it’s a ‘67 Standard Mercury Cougar (Non XR7), based on the lack of XR7 badges on the C-pillar and lack of side marker lights on the rear quarters. NOT the same floor plan as a Mustang, the wheelbase is stretched about 3” longer behind the front seats for better road ride and better rear legroom. I’ve owned 5 Classic Cougars over the years. He is an infectious and enthusiastic person who says how it is. For someone who is retired, he runs around the country seven days a week helping friends, clients and family pursue their dream car ownership experiences. He has many people’s dream job of being asked to source, acquire, build, maintain and sell an eclectic mix of machines. From a old Morris minor to Porsche unicorns... all are treated the same.

Rich Bowles I’m sorry I forgot, are we talking about race cars or race cars? James who? How in the hell did this cat come into possession of that framing car? ! Bonkers! So yeah, a race car. Only ultra legendary. No biggie. No pressure. Send me your address Bernie and I’ll see to it that the components stay in tip top working condition, but they will have to be vigorously tested for statistical compliance. So yeah, also, send me a flight? How many 992 GT2s are in existence? Next your gonna tell me he has the first Miura ever made. Or a Cobra that still shows beer cans supposedly used to fill the backside of the body if part of it got too thin from the dipping. Dude said the very first ones from Shelby, you literally couldn’t lean on a fender. Oh, so now Caroline Munro is landing outside to chopper him away for lunch. Like it’s everyday.

Just an absolutely incredible collection of pretty significant sometimes rare cars, that looked to be extremely well kept. Definitely a very different Barn find Hunter issue, but I think that's perfectly OK because these cars have been sitting for a long time too, they have just been better taken care of. As far as Bernie goes, I think he's definitely a funny character with quite a bit of change in his pocket, and great taste in autos. I also suspect that he just might get a bit overbearing, let's say, over time. Don't get me wrong; I really enjoyed watching and listening to the guy immensely!
@sanderslongdrive3 жыл бұрын
Bernie clearly shows the difference between English storage and tidiness and U.S.A. storage and absolute filthy / rusting chaos. Well done Bernie! Give an American a brand new car, straight out of the dealer's showroom, and what's the first thing he does after driving it half a mile? He ties a large Christmas tree onto the roof. It matters not if it's Christmas time. It's a great ploy to give it a few scratches and begin to bed it in.

So glad to hear you say one of your favorite cars was a 68 Cougar. My dad bought a 68 GT-E as our family's first 2nd car in 1975 and had my mother drive it. Of course dad loved to tear around in it. Dad sold it in 78 when he got mom a new Cougar to a guy that was the Motorcraft regional performance parts dealer. He saw the car in 77 and after he checked the VIN, he told my dad "When you are ready to sell it, call me." As is usually the case, dad really didnt know what he had and sold it to someone else. Sure wished I had that GT-E today. The thing about the GT-E is it was so nose heavy and had so much torque that you could make the rear wheels break traction on wet pavement in any gear. On dry pavement, it was a luxury missle of the day.
