I wish universities offer more freedom on which courses to take. As an engineering graduate, I believe there were many things I could've learn from humanity and art classes

TSLAS is situated within the campus of its mother Institution, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, which has a vast infrastructure sprawling over 250 acres. TIET is one of the oldest and finest educational institutions in India offering a highly attractive structure of fees & scholarships to students. The students are also provided with all necessary facilities to develop a spirit of techno-innovation by faculty of repute.

IMHO: Education is either 1. Practical, 2. Entertaining, 3. A waste of time and resources. I champion a practical education with an ROI and at 70 I see myself as a life-long student. That said, much of my time spent in a 1930's style classroom or campus was a waste of time and money. I could teach more about navigating life's challenges and living well in an afternoon than most college seniors learned in their past 4 years and there is no "degree" on my wall. Beware, kids, college is big business, and about 70% earn a living outside their field of study. If you don't understand the terms of that student loan you really are not ready for "higher" education.

Much of college is learning how to socialize and live away from home. It's become a rite of passage that most wouldn't want to miss out on. Students can and do use summer internships to get practical experience. And a lucky few will even venture to study abroad for a semester and learn how another part of the world thinks, not unlike when earlier generations of Americans got stationed in West Germany or Okinawa.

The liberal arts includes biology and history majors which often feed becoming a doctor or a lawyer. Unlike engineering schools where four years in a specific major is often enough for an entry level job in same field, liberal arts students are more motivated if not better prepared to get into a professional school (medical, law, business) or graduate program. Liberal arts students also carve out their career path through summer internships which may be independent from their major. For your example, undergraduate psychology isn't enough to practice in the field whether it is at a liberal arts college or a large research university.

Nothing. It's just random general education. If you want to get into psychology get into a reserach university and get a bachelor+master in that field.

Not a single concrete example provided or reference to a specific study or use of data in this entire talk, with all due respect to this professor, I must say that my own Honors students would barely be given a passing grade if they presented the way in my class.

I’m also going to guess that this Professor would barely pass any of her students that didn’t proofread their writing before turning it in.

I'm damned tired of having to do classes I hate and have no interest in which is what interdisciplinary programs make me do. Stop wasting the time and money of people and provide them with a useful set of skills. I didn't need school to learn how to debate.

It's really obvious what she was trying to say. In short don't be stuck up in one discipline as being multidisciplined is better and start getting comfortable with looking at things from multiple and often opposing points of view.

I thought she was being very concise rather than vague. Sometimes I wish I was born in the early 19th century or 1400s... The modern day is too much for me...

If you can't find a job with your degree, its a hobby. I love many topics in the liberal arts but would never waste my money on a formal degree in the liberal arts. I went into Materials Engineering for formal education but in my spare time I read classic literature, philosophy and history. I still wouldn't hire anyone who just had a liberal arts degree for anything other than a basic labor job. Any prospective employee that uses the word 'social justice' would immediately be rejected as an applicant, they are generally trouble makers in the workforce.

Probably a liberal art degree serves best as a springboard for future studies. You could get a L.A. degree in Williams, then follow on with a Political Sciences PhD in Harvard. The NY Times may consider hiring you to write on their political column. Provided that you still manage to beat competition, that is.
