yashwant sinha proposed almost similar stuff to Chandrashekar govt and MMS used that just 2-3 months later when former govt fell and new govt of Narasimha rao came. I will give all credit to N Rao. MMS just adapted IMF polices and we had no choice. Point was to get them through even in minority government. Swamy, sinha or MMS were just parroting what international scenario asked them.

So why he did oppose honest free enterprise capitalism when he was Puppet PM? i think real credit went to PV Narsimha Rao and IMF imposed rules. But Rao actually went far beyond imf regime in finance and built capitalist institutions and strengthened them like the share market, the banks.

@@rinkeshyadav4971 It does matter to the nation in a very practical way, because we as voters need to know who has done what, as well as what policies were good and yielded positive results for india, So we need to know who did what and why. And FACT is PV Narshimha Rao did not just bring in those reforms asked by IMF, he went far beyond and was instrumental in building many institutions and strengthening and reforming others making them compatible with real free enterprise democracy , not just under finance ministry. So really 90% of the credit goes to SRI PV NARSIMHA RAO , 15% to IMF and -5% to rest of people in congress and gandhi dynasty who opposed the reforms and tried to sabotage it every opportunity they got. Yes Rao did some things cleverly, others were under the table deals like when congress gandhi dynasty n co were not supporting , he got support of JMM. We should also know that it was congress dynasty and co and their proxies who took india into the crisis situation in the first place. Similar sorts came to power in UPA and UPA2 and india had dake growth rates and high inflations, when economic activity was seriously down

People do say they what Dr. Manmohan Singh did for our country. They also say that he was really quite he didn't know how to work.
