It was not until I developed a severe and sight threatening condition that I began to appreciate listening to someone reading. No struggling with huge magnifiers, coloured papers, accessibility programmes on the computer. You read well and empathically. Your voice is both kind and engaging. I very much enjoyed listening to what you read. Thank you. Over the last 2 years I have begun to quilt, triggered by my mother giving me her Singer 201k, bought for her from new as a 21st birthday present by my father. She was developing dementia and could no longer thread it. It’s my pride and joy, the sound of my childhood and I love it with a passion. It’s a fantastic flat stitcher and an ideal quilting machine, in the table that was bought for it some years afterwards. I have done the “baby quilt training” and have completed one double bed quilt for my son. I also make toys, bags and dolls on it. I looked at your Channel because I’m always keeping my eyes open for British youtubers, but I’ve discovered that when I’m unwell (often), or sad, if I watch the Last Homely House I feel better, and I don’t have to get up and rush around, which is my usual way of managing sadness. So thanks, really, for offering me a bit of peace in a busy and complicated world. And I bet if it works like that for me, it probably does for lots of other people too! 💖

I too was working on LaPassacaglia. I had to put it aside for one of our daughter’s wedding quilt which I made entirely from silk dupioni. Now a baby quilt for our son and then another wedding quilt. I don’t know when I’ll get back to LaPass! I love all of your fabric choices and combinations! You’re very lucky to have that Liberty fabric and I can understand not wanting to cut it up in that way. What you have made are beautiful treasures!

They are like looking through a kaleidoscope but as beautiful as they are I think life is just too short to make a large quilt from such tiny and expensive pieces . If any quilt maker ever completed one, and I’m sure there are such quilt makers, then they’ve created a family heirloom.x

Kate I looked up the millefiori book…and found she now has 5 or 6 of them! Wowee!! I love the elegance of fussy cut quilts, but those teeny pieces and acute angles would also send me over the edge! The three medallions you made are gorgeous. I really enjoyed learning about Liberty and these designs. I’m also a lawyer who sews, beads, knits and quilts etc to soothe my spirit and stimulate my love of color and art. So I especially appreciated the introduction to this accomplished and inspiring Dutch fiber artist. 🎉🎉🎉

I’ve bought templates and a few small border type fabrics to make something in the Lucy Boston style of EPP. It uses slightly larger lozenge shaped pieces along with hexies to make intricate patterns. Keep looking at and “patting” the fabric, but haven’t started yet! Your pieces are lovely.

I really enjoyed this. I am 54, live in America, have just begun sewing in any capacity just over a year ago, and am now quite brazenly embarking on my first E.P.P. piece. It won’t be used for a quilt, but rather as an accent piece on a bag, using a tutorial from Minki Kim, who i just adore. Hoping i can have a good result, even with my small experience.

I love the Millefiori quilts, and I'd love to make one, tiny pieces or not. But the amount of fabric that goes into it, if you're doing it the right way and fuzzy cut the heck out of it, is insane. Hereabouts, quilting cotton costs 20 Euros a meter at least, and, honestly, I don't want to spend hundreds of Euros on fabrics of which I use so little. But still, what a gorgeous quilt, and how wonderful are your three medaillons!

I have enough fabric to open up a quilt store as my husband says. When I purchased this book I was nearly finished with another quilt top. As I went through the book I dropped everything I had been working on and started this quilt. I have counted 38 UFOs most of them are hand appliqué tops but this is what I want to make and finish first. Absolutely love all the different cogwheels I see on social media platforms. Thanks for filming!

I am so happy I stumbled on to this video! Thanks for reading the intro. Listening to the description of her studio took me back to my very first dedicated sewing room. It had 3 large windows set high with large sills. I could open them and get a lovely breeze as they were in the shade of a large silver leaf maple. My sweet cat, Sunny, would sit on a sill and observe me as I sewed. Thanks for the memories!

I sit here on a lovely, snowy Maine morning and am overwhelmed at the beauty, creativity and generativity of the quilt artist and you, yourself. Your overflowing well of energy and inspiration and authenticity have been a balm to my soul during a hard time after losing my beloved dad at 94 several months ago. My always wavering spark of creative energy really ebbed away, and all my art materials looked meaningless and pointless. All of that finally is lifting, and its been in large part to you and a few other wonderful blogging women whose own lives, struggles, creativity and joys have kept the embers warm. Thanks, Kate. You touch lives in ways that make such a difference.

I am fairly new to the channel and not binge watching exactly, but watching and listening to whatever comes to the top of my feed ... this was today 8/8/2024. Fascinating use of fabric as well as her story and your reading was enthralling ... I hoped there was a memoir but found only the quilt books. You and Anna have inspired me to quilt. I am playing with cotton percale from the stash of bedding I have been saving for I don't know what. After I get a little experience I plan to buy some of the Spoonflower fabric - that is a find - thank you and Anna! I am in the US (Montana) so easier than buying Liberty for me - I think. You and Willyne would have been great friends, I believe! Also, you would be an awesome audiobook reader!

I have only recently stumbled across your KZbin channel and have been binge watching your videos. It was seeing Agatha's quilt hanging up that really caught my attention. It's beautiful. Your La Pass blocks are stunning too but I can understand why you decided not to continue making the quilt. A friend of mine loaned me the book but I decided that the quilt is just too fiddly for me to attempt. She is currently about half-way through making the same quilt - she's (jokingly?) told her son that, if she pops her clogs before it's finished, he is to pass it to me to complete!!
