Liberty Trike Behind the Scenes, Factory Visit and Updates - Folding Electric Mobility Trike

The Liberty Trike is a custom electric tricycle manufactured by Worksman Cycles, designed in conjunction with Electric Bike Technologies. Recently I visited Pennsylvania and got to visit the Liberty Trike factory and speak with Jason Kraft, the man behind the liberty trike. Jason is a veteran in the ebike space, he also manages EbikeKit.com and ElectricTrike.com which together, provide a wide range of electric bicycle and mobility solutions since 2008.
While on our tour Jason showed me some packaging which has their logo (an older fellow wearing a fedora riding the trike), he said that’s a depiction of his father in law. They shared the logo on social media to get feedback when launching it in 2015 using crowdfunding. In recent iterations the controller unit has been attached more securely, the battery has become smaller and lighter and the packaging is more compact and doesn’t use foam anymore. Jason also talked about the possibility of a metal rack in the future.
Worksman Cycles makes the frames and they are in Queens New York (just a two hour drive from the Liberty Trike headquarters) and this enables them to improve and fix things quickly. I was told that the paint is another area where they have made some updates and added more colors. The price on the Liberty Trike has dropped to $1,498 with a $98 flat rate delivery charge (to the lower 48 states in the USA).

e-trikes offer a way for seniors to get out of house-boundness without driving a car. I really think sellers should organize a show 'n' tell for seniors and get them on the trikes. 3 wheels is a safe entry point and the rider to go to two if confidence and desire builds...

Yeah, welcome to the east coast Court. I have an adult upright etrike conversion and I'm not elderly (yet). It makes a lot of sense for winter riding. I plan to get some good experiences in this year as it looks like the snow is coming early. One thing I can say about riding etrikes so far, the lower you put the seat, the more secure you feel in turns. Its not that the bike will tip over, its that every shift in direction you really feel because the bike stays in one upright position. But you can really go as fast as you want on those things and it is a blast.

VERY GLAD I woke up before I bought this. I checked with my local fire department and showed them what it says in the Manual regarding the battery. IT IS NOT UL Certified. Fire department said do not buy!!! Then the next day I was at my local bike store with whom I have a great relationship and they showed an email from someone who bought the Liberty Trike and he called it a POS. (last word there is a 4 letter word).

Great product, well priced. Here's what I would also offer: 2nd battery to increase range, and a trailer. That option would likely bring in companies going in the eco direction. Florists, small deliveries, cleaners, etc.Cheers

I'm confused, please help. I thought the new 2020 models are 750 motor, 36V, 10 ah, with new seat with backrest. I ordered one, but it is only 8 ah. Will you let me know. Does key have to stay in while riding?

They reduced the battery to 8 ah from 10 ah, lowering the weight of the battery. At the new lower smaller battery, this battery can now be carried onboard an airliner. While this may not be important to a young person, it is for a senior or others with mobility issues...

Depends on a few factors. Charge on the battery, weight on the vehicle, type of terrain. Off hand on fairly flat ground around 2 hours surely, maybe 3 hours. The faster you go the less distance you get. This vehicle is geared for local neighborhood excursions, not intercity excursions...

Yes, the Liberty Trike has a throttle. Electric-assisted speed is up to 11.5MPH with 5 levels of top speed controlled by + and - buttons on the LCD and will not have any resistance to natural pedal power above that top assisted speed.

I not aware of every state, but there will be no need to buy insurance or register a e bike or e trike in Texas with more than a 750 watt motor or 1 horsepower that goes less than 20 mph. But any e bike, e trike, scooter, or moped that goes faster and has a larger engine will require registration, insurance, and a drivers license. There is a reason why there is only so much power and so much speed with these e trikes geared for seniors and kids. Yes the Liberty has a throttle, and the top speed is around 12 mph on flat ground, but varies depending upon the terrain and the weight on the vehicle...

It's neat to see Jason pushing into new territory with ebikes... He began with just kits then did some trike conversions and now the Liberty Trike which is completely custom. Gets me excited, I think it's really well thought out and one of a kind :)

It's to little, should have 20" wheels. They should bee between liberty bike the one you have and Bolton by 20 inch fat tire trike it should be right in the middle with not great big fat tires but not real skinny ones like you've got either that's what I'm looking for that perfect

Liberty Trike has a 16 inch wheel that are 2.5 inches in width... Maybe not a 3 to 4 inch fat tire, but not a skinny tire either...Plenty of air pressure in this tire to easily handle a person weighting 300 pounds without being squished flat...

Why? A sixteen inch diameter wheel is not as large as a 20 inch kids bike, or a 27 inch adult bike. Larger and more powerful e trikes are built with 20 inch diameter wheels.
