The Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls are known worldwide for their western performing arts including trick riding and trick roping. To date, they have traveled to 18 countries and across the United States representing the Western American lifestyle. Each girl is a product of the training provided by the Riata Ranch Youth Horsemanship Clinics and the philosophy and way of life exemplified in the daily routines at Riata Ranch. Students chosen for the teams go through an extensive program that focuses on combining physical skills that promote positive life skills.
We are always searching for young women to become members of the Riata Ranch Cowboy Girl’s performance team. Although our riding lessons and clinics provide a path to becoming a Cowboy girl, we also offer special training. Please inquire about an application if you are interested in the performance team. Open to girls 14 years and older.

The horse had it's ears pinned most of the time, it clearly wasn't happy and you can see it trying to get up when Sarah forced it to lay down. This would have been so much more beautiful if the lady knew how to calm her horse/work with them better.

While I agree she did over stretch him when asking for the lay down, I don’t think this horse was unhappy the entire time. I have seen many horses when doing liberty work “pin” their ears back, but it doesn’t always mean they are unhappy. Sometimes it means they’re very focused! 🙂

That was a bad decision made in the moment with the laydown but I’m sure she doesn’t normally force it. The environment is different in competition.

Actually quite the opposite.. if you're able to get the horse to trust you enough to the point he's Willing to risk not coming up in time to run from a predator, he's showing you that he knows that you're gonna protect him if he's ever in any danger.

@@shellyfreedman4555 okay but they did jump up and run away, the horse was clearly uncomfortable and pushing back when she forced the horse to lay down, she was yanking on its neck like she was tackling it! It was very rushed. So doubt the rest of the performance was incredible and they have a very strong bond, but this forced ending kind of ruined it and the horse was uncomfortable

The horses ears were pinned most of the time and the horse clearly did not like the last stretch. I don’t think there was a good connection here. Horse didn’t seem to enjoy this.
