Just saying these horses are treated like royalty My father worked with Cavalia horses and has said all the years he has been working with them the horses are treated like royalty and these horses too the horses are injoys got themselves so much! Just look at them their having fun out there! Also and the paints related they have similar markings? Not saying because they have similar markings that their related (trust me I own 2 Arabians that are identical but their not even a tad related and trust me on all of this I've been with horses my whole life and own alot Wich are all saved from kill pens and rehomed after evaluating and training them )

No cruelty involved. Horses are prey animals, and their first instinct is to run away from anything they don't like. It can (and they often do) bugger off if there's too much pressure. I know because I do a lot of liberty too 😊

To those who take issue with the whips, they are necessary as the horses need the leadership from a distance to feel the security of the handler's guidance. The horse's aren't fearful of the whips, the handler's or even the crowd & the loud noises. In fact, the horses appear to be enjoying the games & showing off. This is fun for them & an international with their handlers & the crowd they enjoy. Otherwise, it would be very obvious they wanted to leave or disobey. They're doing everything but disobeying & showing a dislike of the circumstances. Telling Turvey to lose the whips is exposing ur ignorance of the needs of the horses for security & their handler's touch. Whips, when used as their meant to be used are no more than an extension of the handler's hand. They're not meant to harm the horses & don't when used by educated & professional horse trainers. The last thing a trainer worth his salt wants to do is alienate his bread & butter, his client, the horse. The horse's are our customers _ our passion. We love them & never want to harm them. Those that do harm them aren't true trainers & should be banned from having licenses to train wherever possible. If owners find out a trainer is abusive with the whip it's up to them to make sure every other owner is aware of the situation & the registries are aware, as well as the horse show authorities. Sadly, for some reason too many people stay silent & abuses still continue. Things are improving in certain areas though. Rules have changed & trainers are more careful about being caught but, there are still trainers who don't love the horses & are abusive to them. One has to wonder how the horse's owners can leave their horses in the care of such people. It's disgusting. This is why every incident of cruelty must be reported to someone who can do something to stop it. Otherwise, what good are we to the poor horses enduring the brutality & suffering?

Wonder if Tommie Turvey teaches his training methods & if they're anything like Parelli's methods? It would be interesting to hear what Mr Turvey thinks about people like Parelli's & his horse training methods that have people spending thousands trying to emulate him. Or, what he thinks of Clinton Anderson's methods, Warwick Schiller's methods & many of the others who teach their techniques to the public for money. I'd be one who's curious to know what Mr Turvey's opinions are of the Parelli's training methods in particular.

It's all horsemanship, no real need to split hairs on opinions of one another. There are a million strategies to do what they are doing, all can be slightly different, so much of what the pros do overlaps, what's important is that it's right for the horse and kind and fair.

If the whip is used for the wrong reasons, the horse will associate it in a negative way & react negatively towards it. The whip can also be used for cues, to which the horse responds from extensive, non hurtful training (gently tapping etc). Used in a correct manner, the horse learns the whip isn't going to hurt them and is only asking them to perform a certain move, this is also done with Tommy's body language etc. Good horsemen & women don't use whip's etc for negative purposes, they are basically used as an extension of your arm, to ask the horse to do something (cues). This takes of years of training to see a show like this & the horses have 100% trust in Tommy. In training and every horse has its own personality etc, for your safety and the horses, times do arise when you need to be more aggressive with whip to let the horse know that you are lead horse, (they will test you & that's a horse just being a horse). The critical thing is always making sure that the horse trusts you & the whip is not something to be afraid of. The two are totally different, I've had horses that their only experience with a whip was negative & they'd go off the rails just at the sight of it... one of them never got over it, she was a whole lot better after a year of working with her yet would still flinch & jump if one was raised suddenly near her. My horse's I'd had from start weren't, it all comes down to the person & the experience they teach the horse whether it be a whip or anything else. Never work with any animal if you are not able to stay cool, calm, collected & be in full control of your emotions and remain neutral!!

Nicarey 71 I use a stick/crop, a shorter whip. If horses are trained to learn that the whip is only there to do this stuff like this and not to hurt them, they will NOT react negatively. Plus horses are animals that need to be told what to do. That’s why there is a leader in their herd in the wild. A whip is not always used for torchere, but for entertainment reasons. If you can’t tell, Tommie Turvey only chose things that won’t cause the horses any stress and the horses ears weren’t pinned back which would be the sign of fear.

All horses, like people, have bad days. Having said that I do not like the hard "patting," nor does any horse, it is a low-grade reprimand(rub instead). If you watch the guy he is overly harsh physically and verbally. Watch with the way he approaches and acts with the horses(using whip when he doesn't need to, just for show or amp the horse up.:( ) to a horse it is a correction or reprimand. She is not very assertive with the horses and looks a bit awkward or tentative at points. You do not have to whip or hit a horse to gain their respect, often violence or harsh treatment begets harsh attitudes reflected by the horses. The horses do not respect him for whatever reason, it is obvious. They are bumping into both people and ignoring their requests over and over. The horses have not been worked with enough to be in coordination with what the handler is asking. Maybe the act was changed up recently or the horses new to the show, but they need way more quality work. There are too many mixed signals going on. I would love to see a lighter hand in dealing with the horses. My opinion after 48 years of horse ownership, showing horses, agility training in hand and on back, plus all the other events I have competed in over the years. This all includes Mustangs and Domestics. A lot of room for improvement on this and I can see the hard work they have already put into the show, but still a great deal of room. I stopped watching at 4.5 minutes it was not enjoyable. There was no concert of connection with the handlers and the horses. It felt very disjointed and awkward.

The bears are predators, so it's possible to do that with them (unfortunately), but horses, as prey animals, will run away from pressure. So you have to build the bond enough that they'll ignore their instincts and stick with you through tough stuff.

@@gabbygamesofficial And you'd think people would get that difference. Horses can be kept safely in a large pasture with humans around. Can't do that with a bear. Why would you compare an animal that is a prey animal domesticated and working with man for thousands of years to a wild predator that cannot be kept safely.
