@oceanic71463 жыл бұрын
@@SudrianSteam As a somewhat recent owner of both Infinite Brass and Infinite Woodwinds, I put them just barely below Sample Modeling in terms of overall quality. So in my opinion, it's: 1. Sample Modeling/Audio Modeling Brass 2. Infinite Brass 3.Cinematic Studio Brass 4. Orchestral Tools Berlin Brass I LOVE Infinite Brass and use it for all of my orchestral stuff. I'll have to post a video soon of a demo

I think this may be the best sounding brass library I've heard. I was going to go the 8dio route, but I really feel these sounds. And the notes all flow so naturally 😎🎶
@roninmbattousai4 жыл бұрын
I only ended up adding the 8dio stuff to my library because of their recent sale on their items which you could also apply their discount bundle code to it (got both solo and ensemble + francesca/Cait/polyphon/intimate studio strings) for less than the bundle price of just the solo and ensemble brass (roughly how much i think it should be priced at normally). But yeah, this library is just such a joy to actually play. Nothing against 8dio, but the methodology of the layout of articulations are just more fun to play on a track. 8dios Arc stuff though really makes some incredible moments with their poly legato, if CS adds poly legato at some point it would be unstoppable for a brass library.

Thanks as always Cory, for a great review (and wonderful writing). This didn't make my jaw drop like Cinematic Studio Strings did but that may be because I have all of my brass needs covered with Berlin already (which is twice the price and a totally different concept). This is where I'd point anyone new for brass now, I think.

Alex Vincent Hey Alex. I hope you can help me out. Would you recommend Berlin Brass over this or just go with Cinematic Studio Brass? I have EW Hollywood Brass diamond edition, and a few other ‘mixed’ libraries containing brass (a.g Spitfire Albion One, 8Dio Majestica etc.) But I am really in need of a new dedicated brass library. I can’t stand the Play engine. I am not interested in in other Spitfire brass (too roomy and not enough bite but it is very complete and has a lot of instruments and articualtions). I am also uncertain about 8Dio’s Century Brass (I like the sound and emotional quality, their bundle offers enough instruments and articulations, but with past experience from their string libraries and woodwinds, they take a lot of work to do what you want them to). I know Cinebrass gets a lot of praise, but it isn’t exactly a “new” library. I am also not looking for sound design stuff like Heavy Forzo. Just a good brass library that sounds real, is versatile and can be either classical or somewhat “epic”. My best options so far seems to be Cinematic Studio Brass (it sounds great, is affordable, not too heavy on resources and seems easy to use, but the downside for me is the number of articulations as well as the limited number of instruments). The other best option seems to be Orchestral Tools Berlin Brass... total opposite of CSB... but such a beautiful sound, I would say better than what I have heard here, but demos can be deceiving. But they have a whole lot more instruments recorded (with the expansions and mutes), It is what I want. I want to write out all the parts. Not just a quick mockup with something like Adventure Brass or even OT Metropolis series with sections...but Berlin Brass just seems really big... really really big in terms of everything... cpu resources, price tag, articulations and options etc. Is all of it worth it to get the best sound? Would I actually be able to make use of Berlin without the need to have like 10 slave machines just for the brass? Orchestral Tools are also working with Junkie XL on a new brass library... I am sure it will be great, but I have no idea how long that will be before release... What would you recommend I do? Sorry for the long question...
@alexjevincent5 жыл бұрын
@@dirk.claassen I think they both sound great. Berlin Brass is substantially more expensive. Note that I waited for a sale on it. However, if your budget allows for both, it will depend on your workflow. Berlin Brass gives you each instrument separately which is much more effective for writing per section, rather than just using a solo trumpet multiple times. The depth of articulations is also slightly higher, and this is replicated in the mutes (which are fantastic) if you want that expansion. Cinematic Studio Brass seems to have a more consistent implementation and sampling. The instruments' interface and workflow is easier to understand and control. The dynamic range appears larger as well and you get a mix microphone for low RAM footprint, but some of the library is made up of ensemble instruments, which might be right for you. I think Berlin Brass leans more towards traditional orchestra, whereas Cinematic Studio Brass is more of a general workhorse (like the strings). All conjecture. Take a listen to the demos of both!

Cory, have you got Century brass? Was wondering if CSB solo or ensemble would blend better with Century solo/ensemble than SStB would with Century. Thanks...looking to possibly combine the solos and ensembles from one library with the solo/ensembles of the other...
@CoryPelizzari5 жыл бұрын
I don't think 8Dio's libraries will ever be a possibility on this channel to be honest... The bad blood runs deep.
@jaketanner1095 жыл бұрын
@@CoryPelizzari Damn sorry...So then let's take 8dio out of the equation. I know you favor CSB...but is SStB really unusable? Can CSB be made to sound a bit non-cinematic? Don't always need huge sounding brass. Thank you.
@CoryPelizzari5 жыл бұрын
@@jaketanner109 SStB is usable, but very limited when it comes to legato and overall discipline. When it comes to CSB that fatter studio sound can be mitigated by only using the far mics with the reverb set to about 70%, which gives it a concert hall sound. If you want it to sound thinner, just chuck an equaliser in your fx chain (any will do) and take a slight wide dip out of the 500k range. You'd be surprised how much money you can save on library collecting by using EQ to shape the library you already have. Spitfire libraries are recorded to tape, which is why they sound darker, so you can grab an affordable tape emulator and chuck that in your fx chain as well to get a softer, more traditional sound. Audiothing has Reels and Vinyl Strip which are great affordable plugins.

The chordal sustains/legatos with swells etc sound very realistic, but the staccatos/staccatissimos/repetitions suck a bit: Not enough bite or punch to them. I want to hear that powerfull "spitting" attack from the players but its not coming out. A touch lifeless.
