I hate it. the only true guitarist to his songs in my opinion is John Petrucci, he delivers live what you hear on the records and then he improvises, that's what I like. Govan is more like "let's rewrite the song" :D

Amazing technique, sublime phrasing, flawless interpretation....I can only gaze with awe....I have seen many guitarists in my life span but you Sir have been "the greatest" influence in my musical indulgence. People may argue about his style of playing or call him a mere shredder but I can only feel sorry for them as to not being able to hear the blended melodies which eventually sprouts as one beautifully woven musical brilliance. Meeting him once holds the top stack of my bucket list!

It takes incredible skill for an artist like Guthrie to make this live performance seem like a youtube recording. Most live performers are stuck in 3d, but guthrie can make himself flat like a screen so the audience feel they're not really there but watching it at home on a screen. Incredible. As with any music there has to be a foundation which is the chord progression and melody. Once you lose sight of that it is nothing but noise. The bass in this video does a great job of keeping the foundation going. The guitar does a great job at improvising and coming back to the melody. Great video!
