Licorice Plant, Helichrysum petiolare

Helichrysum petiolare (Licorice Plant) Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society (1993). Grows up to 1-2 feet tall (30-60 cm) and spreads as much as 3-4 feet across (90-120 cm). Growing in Zone 9B. I find it difficult to propagate by cuttings so I easily use underground stem layering.

I have bought 4 of these and every one of them has shriveled up and died from the center out🥹🥹🥹 why???? I transpoanted from a nursery in god soil, moderate watering and a good liquid fertilizer… They have all turned brown from the center and wilted out completely

Thats not Licorice. The plant used to make the confection is Glycyrrhiza glabra.

Licorice is just the common name. Not edible.

smells like licorice, but not related to Glycyrrhiza glabra which is the candy licorice plant. but, people can still use the Helichrysum for teas
