Lidl £80 Plasma Cutter Unboxing and Cutting Steel without reading the instructions. Parkside plasma

I picked up one of the brand new plasma cutters from lidl before they went on sale and got it running in about 5 minutes. Heres my review.. Its easy enough to set up and use, the air pressure is already set which is nice. It struggled with the 10mm mild steel but cut through the 5mm quite easily. Well worth 80 quid.

If it's the 40 amp parkside plasma cutter it will cut 10mm no problem. I have no issues with mine it's just a matter of getting air pressure and Amp's right. Too much air pressure and it will sputter and too little it won't blow the slag from the cut in thicker material.

I'm on the look out for one of these next time, as well as the welder they sell, I got excited last week I saw they had welding wire in stock but when i asked about the machine they said they haven't got a clue when they'll come in.

The staff never seems to know, I check the upcoming stuff on the website every now and again, go in just before closing the day before something is due to go on sale and you should be able to grab it

What size of compressor are you running with it?

Annoyingly these interesting videos only ever pop up on my youtube feed months after they are uploaded. That looks very handy, but does it run off a normal 13 amp plug, or does it require a dedicated 16 or 20 amp supply?

I got to lidle 10 minutes after opening time and there was only one left . I was lucky . It will cut 10mm if you go a bit slower

I bought a cut30 recently. I'm a novice just starting a bit of hobby metalwork. The first cuts were ragged and needed a few passes. I drew the head down a straight edge each time. There was a lot of spatter either side of the cut. Perhaps I need to take the spacer on the head off or maybe the air pressure isn't right

I’ve found that going slower than I initially think I should go works well

@@KSKS37 I've seen a few folks cutting without the spacer /guard on the nozzle and the electrode is in contact with the metal... Some say this is not good, I'm not sure what to believe

They say it’s not good because the tip will wear out quicker over time. If you only use it once a month then it’s not gonna make much of a difference

I think if you had run it a little slower on the thicker bit to let it melt away. it would have done it better ???? But nice video I just can not one round here the last two times the Lidl near me had some they had sold them in one day and when I got there after work all gone.

I haven’t used it much since but slowly works a lot better, I got in on the Wednesday when they were stocking up for the Thursday, I think they only ever put out one per store

Must you touch to start the arc.. After it starts I guess you move it up 1-2mm..How far up can you lift ?

Yeah, I just keep it on the piece and drag it along, works fine👍

I haven’t used mine too much but when nothing else will cut it, it’s nice to have it there and it takes up very little room under the bench 👍

Your right, I’ve had more practice since I got it. I’m a bit better at it now. 👍
