It makes me so sad to see our beautiful Lido Key and St. Armand's like this. We'll be here in February for vacation and knowing Florida I'm sure it will be back as close to perfect as it once was.

I used to live here on Garfield drive. Worked on St. Armands at Alvin's Island. Been in Ohio for several years but now I'm going back. I feel like I have to help Sarasota. My favorite place. ❤

I see the old Sandcastle is still there....was a dump 20 yrs ago, I can't imagine it now after these storms

We stayed there two years ago and I have to say, it was really nice. Now, the rooms were still stuck in the 1980's but it was clean and the pool area was gorgeous. And right on the beach and free ramp parking with free shuttle service to the circle. It's really the last cheap place to stay that's right on the beach. I heard the beach side rooms were destroyed. I can't imagine they will reopen. It will probably be bulldozed and sold off for another $$$$ high rise.

Beautiful Sarasota--she held-up quite well, considering Milton was a CAT 3 Hurricane when it made landfall. She's been battered, but she will sparkle again.

It must be a beautiful place before the hurricane... the destruction is so tough. Hope everyone would be alright and be able to recover all these things

To many times to count, I watch the moon set as I stroll Lido at 0600 as the sun begins its day with brilliance oranges from the east. My peaceful place.

It's hard to hear this, but this is the future. We've got an almost 50/50 chance we'll have another hurricane spinning up in the Gulf in about a week or so. 30 years ago and back, the Gulf waters would have cooled down by now. But waters temps are still in the 80s. Mid October, that's insane & dangerous. Our planet is getting hotter which means warmer water and a wetter atmosphere. More storms that are more intense in the future. You guys and others like yourself are doing the work that our domestic news media should be doing. On life going forward, I think based on the way we organize our lives here in America, people need at least 5 years, maybe even 10 to develop a sense of normalcy and reasonable expectations for their lives. Big development especially needs a long term outlook of stability. If the next decade for Florida is like the last, life in Florida is going to become very different to say the least. We're from Kansas City, Missouri but we've lived in Atlanta since 1989. We are very familiar with most parts of Florida and it's just tragic to see what people are going through down there. Please stay safe. We enjoy everything you guys are dong.

How is Anna Maria Island ( Manatee County and Palmetto). Hardly anyone is reporting in those areas.
@JamieandSkylar2 ай бұрын
Anna Maria was hit very hard by the last two hurricanes. The island has only been open to residents, business owners and contractors.

Hi, thanks once again for your reports from Florida. It's incredibly sad to see the destruction wrought on this lovely part of the world. We should have been visiting next week, but our holiday was cancelled due to Helene. Living in the UK I can't imagine how you folks can bounce back each time this happens, especially now as you've suffered two in quick succesion. Hopefully we will be able to return early next year to our favourite destination. Our hearts are with you all.❤

Whenever someone from up north asks me about what's underneath our feet here in Flo-duh, I tell them to think of the entire state as one big sand bar. Here's the proof...

Vayanse a Hawai! Veran que bien recubidos serán.
