Sharing this video feels like a breath of fresh air - even though I’m revisiting my past. As mentioned, I feel responsible to share the knowledge I’ve gained through my experience in recovery from an eating disorder with the purpose to help those of you, who need that extra push. I do remember saying I did not want to post more about this certain topic on my channel but what I also learned from making this video is how far I’ve come myself - which I wanted to honor as well. I’m aware it’s a bit long but I couldn’t cut it any shorter, nor did I want to. I personally think these topics deserves a few minutes at least to be discussed in the best way and I hope by sharing my experiences and perspectives, that you’ve gained the confidence and motivation to to what’s best for you. I’d really love to know, If you’ve experienced the same, agree or even disagree with me - that’s the thing about recovery too. Not a two journeys are the same because not two people are the same. Let me know if you want me to turn these videos into a series. Thank you for listening xx

Something that I struggled (and still struggle) with in my recovery is falling into traps of disguised restriction, such as intermittent fasting. I became very interested in intermittent fasting this past summer and although I wouldn’t admit it at the time, really I was just looking for some way to restrict myself because after about a year of eating intuitively again I was growing discontent with my eating & my body. I tried intermittent fasting for a few days but I stopped after seeing a video on Abbie the dietician’s channel about how intermittent fasting can mess up women’s periods. I had just gotten my first natural period of my life that summer and I was extremely happy about it so I wasn’t willing to risk losing it again. Looking back at it now, all of the KZbin videos I had watched on intermittent fasting that inspired me to start were made by men.
@katharinaschneiderr10 ай бұрын
I myself believe that everyone should do what feels the best for themselves, but personally, I've only had bad experiences with intermittent fasting. I think this lies deep into the 'setting rules' and controlling my food intake around a certain time, place etc. which only made me feel horrible - and destroyed my hunger signals. It's definitely interesting to know more about the scientific part of it! I'll watch some of that myself. I am SO PROUD for you to get your period back! That is absolutely amazing ❤❤❤

It’s my second day in recovery and honestly your videos made me feel so much more comfortable to eat, I made pancakes this morning but I used my comfort ingredients, but when I thought about it and tasted it I realized how bland it was and that my ed just convinced my brain it’s good, I stopped working out excessively and decided to heal so I can focus on school since I’m going to soon do IGCSE, and yesterday I fought a fear food which is ice cream, but today I wanted to make a meal plan but ended up eating random things bit by bit from each, I definitely feel guilty for eating pancakes, then I had some salmon from soup and so on, but I won’t give up because if I stop now I know I’ll relapse, I want to become stronger and heal and then have control over my meals, even though I might go through some days of eating too much or too little I will pass through it, I did try recovering twice before but I relapsed because I didn’t fully accept it and was still over working myself the hell out, but now I realized how much I actually am starting to like foods, I did have some oat pancakes with yogurt and fruits, and to be honest it was good, so did I have some rice cakes and few other fruits and that’s perfectly fine, I still felt hungry and it was better then restricting and only thinking about it, and I’m still going to eat more later if I want to, Hopefully I will go through this positively 💗

I hope your food feels better soon sounds like planter fascitis swelling of the tendon going along your food i have had that its very painful for while. Great vlog as always, have you ever thought of becoming a motivational speaker? to girls and guys who may be going threw an eating disorder> I think clients would respond really well to you and your story by educating them on what you have had to do to recover you mentioned at the beginning of your video about a girl you noticed in the gym that seemed to be struggling maybe try reaching out to her slowly maybe you might be able to help her for sure. I like the video and how openly and honest you reflect your own way. But I think you still have some way to go. Hi dear, thank you for reaching out! The inconsistent periods is completely normal - happens to me too. My doctor told me it's because my(your) body is stressed and in the need of finding balance. It'll happen, slowly! My advice for you is to keep eating and resting. If I slip away from a 'normal' routine of eating and resting, my body reacts crazy and my period gets messed up again. Consistency is key, making your body trust you again, literally!
