I don't know if you've ever seen/tried Mortal Shell, it's pretty short but good. The main gimmick is turning to stone, so you can charge heavy attacks and anyone who tries to hit stun you gets a face full of "Nuh Uh"

I feel the same exact way, I love this game and it’s my first souls game I’ve ever played simply bc the others didn’t seem too appealing, and being an Xbox user I can’t play bloodborn. This game though, an absolute beauty, great graphics, gameplay, story, artwork, etc. can’t wait for a pt. 2 !!!

exactly me, not that I don't like but just suck at this kind of game especially parrying, but lies of p is just so unique that I must play it no matter how bad I am as the atmosphere just so damn good And I have finished the game (barely with a lot of luck), thanks so much to specters, first and last boss give me a lot of hell though, and that damn clown, he is just so damn annoying

JFJ himself said the perfect guard timing is *really* strict, he figured it was about five frames? That's a 12th of a second window to get it right. It's tight.

The first two bosses have a very tight window and they do that thing in Dark Souls where when it looks like the attack should hit you it doesn't connect until a few frames later. J got it down really fast probably bc of DMC5's royal guard but for anyone who either hasn't played a game with parries in a while or not at all it's very jarring especially when your first instinct is to dodge and not block. Personally this game is SO much harder than any of the souls games

@@Subpar1O1 I am SHIT at parries and have never gotten the hang of them even after putting hours of time into Sekiro. I never used them in Dark Souls as a series for how strict the timing was. But in Lies of P? They're *required*; you can't just block and dodge like you would normally.

What really cemented this game for me is its dedication to firebombs. You get 10 bag space by default. You use one for heal, one for grinder, maybe one for status clear or cube. The other SIX? Thermite, throwing cells, carcass jars, sawblades, pipes, and my personal favourite...Shot puts. Throwables and spectres make this game a breeze.

I’m surprised J figured out perfect guard so fast, though he probably has some muscle memory from sekiro. I’m at endgame and I still haven’t gotten it down, it feels more like a matter of luck than timing sometimes.

If you're playing on PC and using a controller it might be a weird input-thing. My Controller, which is old, doesn't read inputs correctly for Kicks in Dark Souls 1 and 3.

For specifics, the guard window in Lies of P is around 7 frames (one second is 60 frames). If you played Sekiro this'll probably throw you off as the Parry window in that game is 12-14 frames.

I still don't know why the tutorial states that you can't dodge red attacks. I mean sure some of them have weird timings, big areas, and great tracking... but it's hardly not impossible to dodge roll against those.
