I'll tell you the India story in 3 sentences. 1. Rich are getting richer. 2. Middle-class people are stuck and find it impossible to break into the rich class 3. Poor people are breaking into the middle class at a very fast pace. Very soon there will be no poor people left and the growth will become harder to achieve.

One other thing I also noticed on many such youtube videos is that a lot of comments mention "amazing bhai, great video", "this video is quite inspirational", "hi, thank you" etc. Compare this with videos/audience from other countries. It shows that even most of us mature internet audience are not willing to have more fruitful conversations other than just leaving comments like this. I am not saying that people/youtubers should not be appreciated enough, but if these are the ONLY comments you find, then you are not really learning/gaining anything insightful from the comments section. Whenever I stumble upon Indian videos/creators, I just watch videos and be done with, because more often than not, comment section is filled with such noise(which makes me think if some of these are bots). I mean just take a look at the comment section below, I found maybe 2 or 3 comments talking about actual content compared to the rest of comments which are just appreciating the video and nothing more. This is similar to how on facebook posts we used to have people tagging their friends and thats it. P.S This is just my opinion, different people might look at it with different perspective though. Not saying that such comments are bad, but its just that I feel its not an efficient use of our time(similar to how unproductive some parts of say japanese society is, like traveling all the way to client to give business cards etc, or even in India where we spend a lot of time commuting even though some of the jobs can be done remotely).

You stole my views!! The problem lies in giving the person a stature of celebrity but apart from this, mature audience does not indulge in such discussions. I think the problem is in "initiate".
@lmaomoofeq
@lmaomoofeq 26 күн бұрын
You have to understand that such an inflow of high quality content started only a few years ago. If you generalise the noise, it is an outcome of the Indian internet audience learning and maturing. New people are getting exposed to such content everyday, just take a look at the subscribers. There is still a 100M people in India 1, while such channels are barely above a million subscribers. Foreign audiences have been matured for generations, have been exposed to the internet for longer, which is why the comment section is full people who have something to offer, while we are absorbing the knowledge and optimism, which is why we only appreciate these videos.

Incredible video. My takeaway: the next ~3 years will be hard for Indian startups targeting the Indian market. India 2 and 3 need more time to catch up with VC's expectations. In the meantime, if today's Indian startup founders can crack global industries by using India 1 and diaspora as a springboard, they can get a head start on future Indian startups that will be targeting the obvious opportunity presented by the rest of the world. This global outlook may also be more fundable from a VC's standpoint.

One thing I often think about when talking about India's growth which also excites me is that right now there's increasing inflation and recession like situations globally. Markets are affected badly and countries' economic growth have slowed down, in some cases even contracted. Meanwhile India is not only surviving this but also growing at a remarkable pace. What will be worth watching is when all the other economies start to recover. Investors and consumers would have more money to spend. India will have a direct impact seeing the potential of growth. The boom India might see then in FDI and exports would be phenomenal. This is one of the main reasons that the current time is the golden period for India to make policies that would attract the potential investors and increase exports. Policies like Production Linked Incentives (PLI), ONDC and National Logistics Policy (NLP) etc. would be a game changer. We also would need more policies for ease of doing business.

Great video again. 25:43 I believe that, in India, if we are launching an app with premium feature, we need to add a daily plan. And the daily plan need to be 5x costly than monthly plan daily plan price = ( ( monthly price / 30 ) * 5 ) So occasional user can purchase the product on per day basic. And a person who use app everyday, can purchase a product on monthly basic. Any thoughts on it, am i right or there are disadvantage to this approach? Just wanted to know thought from smart people?

Varun, Thanks for a data driven video which gives perspective of India market. What I want to put across to being somebody studying India market is that the strategy for India market cannot be same as that used in other countries. There is huge low margin market. Which means the way do marketing and branding cannot be the way big corporates do. There we need innovation. So usually I do not blindly go by these reports. There was much of skepticism regarding India moving to digital transactions and I have seen many videos on why it will not happen. But it has happened. So we need indegeneous ideas which works for the market and many of the text book approaches will not work. India being cost sensitive is important and good. Purchasing power will increase in the course of time. Still cost sensitivity will be there because that is our culture. When we come up with products which is cost sensitive, has lot of utility and can be marketed without huge budgets then that will succeed . Once again thanks for great effort you have put in making video. But I feel India story will be different and entrepreneurs need to find new ways to reach the customer.

Food consumption is decreasing maybe because as you mentioned there are 3 India and India 2 and 3 are still very price sensitive and are willing to reduce their food consumption to save more money. I have a question for you, as you have mentioned in many of your previous videos AI is going to take away the jobs of many software developers, then should I be learning to code with me being from a non-tech background.

The thing is, most of the founders and VC's in India, from 2015-20 suffered from a sort of multiple personality disorder. They had seen westernised products and services and practices from the first world, and tries to implement that same thing in India, amazed by the numbers, but without seeing the market on ground. Its only after so many startups bled continuously that they got the reality check. It is the ORGANIC business practices that work in India, which have connection to the market and the people. We see people buying from the same store or brand that they used to buy since their childhood to their elder age, because of the name, or the connection from the store owner. Here, LALA is more successful,than VC's, "Dhandha" works better than "Entrepreneurship", Kirana Dukaans combinely beat Walmarts and all. Dmart is a great example who have experience and researched the Indian market well. Indian market truly has extraordinary potential, most of the Indians prefer to buy a thing by analysing the VALUE, rather than the hype, or the brand, like in the first world. Quality is utmost to the educated Indian buyers, that's why you see our parents looking for things that can last decades, and people who had money are willing to spend also. But the people who don't have generally rely on saving for some months, or financing, and in day to day life relying on the most value in lowest price. Therefore, businesses and founders, should research, experience, and live in the Indian Market, then provide something of value , there huge money to be made.

I am a petrol pump owner and I was one of the very early subscribers of the sound box not for touch and feel. In initial phase only one or two phone numbers can get notifications of successful transactions so my employees used to call me every time for confirmation then paytm gave different qr to every employee so employees used to get notifications as well but now there is a single sound box and getting notification is much simpler now

Great storytelling Varun with all emphasis on visuals and data analysis in reports it helps but your story telling actually succeeds in conveying the understanding and message for the same effectively as opposed to efficiently. One thing I have a big concern for is the fact that with growing inequality between India 1 and 2+3 is really alarming and in many cases is a precursor to socialism antagonism of wealth and above everything damages social harmony and unity historically. Any thoughts on what to do to balance that ?? ❤❤

People with disabilities are often an often overlooked demography and the voice search numbers might be a reflection of them. People with fine motor problems would obviously rely on voice search. They might have disabilities but they still consume. Just like how media content makers often overlook the significance of subtitles as the possibility of deaf viewers don't occur to many of them. If we have a huge population that means we also have a huge population with some kind of disability and alternate accessibility options thus might open up a huge untapped potential customer base
