Plus they have to watch their backs. They'll will kill them before they pay them for the rest of their lives. They're die mysteriously. Car accident. Tree branch falling on their heads while jogging. Lung cancer and food poisoning. They'll pay some poor kids to break in their homes and rob them. Them him and all the kids will be gone from this earth. With that type money being paid out to 4 individuals every year it's pretty scary. Keep the money. Give me a masters degree and a high paying job. I want to be the boss of the prison where you had me. I'm making all the rules and calling all the shots, within the law. I rather work for my pay. Just give me what I miss. A nice home in a nice neighborhood, with a Lexus car, range rover truck, motorcycle, and a yatch all paid for and the insurance by the state. Give me all my papers .

The problem with the US is that their cops have unbridled power with little or no accountability and their court system is corrupt; when a prosecutor can prevent evidence from being presented in court that would weaken their case, that alone tells you how corrupt their system is. And these same people are always pontificating on other countries many of which have far better systems of jurisprudence that the US ever will have.

We only ever hear of these "bigger" cases, the ones that have people convicted and spending years... decades in prison. These are the ones that capture people's emotions. No one ever talks about the countless of innocent people convicted daily in "smaller" cases... no one seems to care. The cases with no jail or only jail for months... maybe only a fine... but still left with a criminal record and life ruined. People should care about the "little" unknown cases... because these are the case that set the precedence for the cases we hear and care more about. Case law from the higher courts impact the lower courts, but the lower courts interpret and handle cases daily. If this problem is to be corrected... it begins with the smaller cases. To simply address the larger cases, especially after the fact... is of no value.

Why doesn't United-States has a Law when Somebody was wronfully convicted for example for murder? Specially if this case was under investigation at the beginning, and the investigators who made it didn't get a correct issue before sending an innocent individual to Prison for years, and then they find out thé person was innocent. So the Supreme Court needs to have a law voted to charge the State Prosecutor, Judges, the Detective, Police Officer, DA need to be charged for perjury, violation of Cinstitutionnal right, and Civil rights 15 years behind bars, included settlements.

7:40 Man do I feel that, my husband was snatched out our household when our daughter was only 9 months and because our state of Florida has no conjugal visits, (I stayed with my husband from beginning (2001) to present day of his wrongful conviction (21 years)), we only have one child. We love children so much but time is running out for me to bare any more children, so if my husband don't get out the day after tomorrow we pretty much won't have any more children. our daughter had our first grandchild and due to my husband's wrongful conviction he missed the first year of out granddaughter's life... This may be our last go around with children so I pray he is released before our granddaughter is grown!!!

Just a question: If someone was arrested and jailed improperly and lost 62 pounds in a few weeks due to starvation.... Would that be cruel and unusual punishment ??? Worth a lawsuit?

Sure would. Are you the victim? You're not the only one.

Don't forget a leap year every 4 years of that. So you need to add another $460 to that number.

12:31 Wow that's one of the shortest wrongful convictionsI ever heard of... Makes me think if my husband had of got out only 10 years into his wrongful conviction he still would have seen most of our daughter's life... Just two weeks ago he missed our daughter's college graduation...

0:50 I been fighting for my husband's release from his wrongful conviction. He to was wrongfully arrested at age 19 and wrongfully convicted when our daughter was only 9 months old. She is now 22 years old and my husband won't be released from his wrongful conviction until our 1 year old granddaughter is almost 17 years old... #freemarchello

Can Raphael appeal the decision for compensation? Someone please answer. Thank you!
@chb2551

He might be able to appeal it but it would likely cost a lot of money for the attorney fees to do that. It would also, likely take years for any decision.
