The animal kingdom has rational rules. When David Attenborough met a Silverback Gorilla not only did he not get attacked and eaten, the gorilla let him interact with his children. My question could be; does this gorilla believe in the Monkey God for him to have a morality standard to not commit murder? With this as an example, objective morality doesn't require a leap of faith.

@@joelsacrafamilia9833 The big bang theory proves that space and time had a beginning. Albert Einstein proved that time is a relative illusion. whatever that created the spacetime must be outside space and time. He must be timeless. Eternal, from infinity past to infinity future. It's seem like it's really hard for atheists to get glimpse of the concept of the eternity. God has no creator because their is no time in which he never existed. He is just IS. The principle of conversion of energy states Energy can neither be created or destroyed but can be transformed from one form to another. At the beginning stages of the big bang photons (light particles) were the first things that came out of the singularity. Enormous amount of Energy that excaped the singularity. I believe that the singularity was the interdimensional portal (proven only mathematically) ,God opened to release his omnipotent energy into the spacetime bubble thus expanding it. That was transformed into different forms of energy and matter that are guided by the fundamental laws of nature (also proven by Einstein famous equation E = mc2) forming the universe as we know it. And in the fact that there is something instead of nothing shows that there was a decision been made. Only personal beings make decisions. The physicists say current say the most fundamental unit of reality is information. "Everything you see is a bit of information " ~ Lee Smolin All this hints to Genesis 1:3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. Hebrew 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the WORD of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZrIaqCrqKx4p7M (a universe out of nothing)

Great talk. There’s a lot of atheists that were never theists, like me my family and almost all of my extended family. I agree rituals are important. We participate in layers of ritual. We have rituals we’ve established in our family for us and our kids. There’s rituals our extended family engage in. There’s societal rituals put on by our government (Australia) and rituals in many different social/sporting groups that have nothing to do with religion. I realise that people who leave religions that result in families shunning them have to suffer the loss of the first two, but once you create a family of your own, including a social family of friends, you can invent your own to replace the first and the organisations you join can invent rituals to replace the second. We also continue to hold rituals that mark significant milestones like births, adolescence, adulthood, marriage, death and any others you want to add. We each want our lives to be witnessed by others and rituals provide an important way to remind each other that we paid attention when each of us were here and mark special moments with ceremony and celebration. Sometimes I think ex-religious atheists find it hard to find how to solve the ritual problem because you often only speak to other ex-religious people and don’t ask people who have never been religious what they do.

4:30 What does he mean by saying “Buddhism has the concept you are born good or evil”? As far as I know, Buddhism doesn’t say that. In fact, Buddhism doesn’t even split morality into two. It actually says any human can maintain a better life by doing minimum harm and following the 8-folded path. I am confused of what he meant by that...

Imtiaz Shams well, as buddhism doesn’t have dogmas, it diversifies quite easily. Hence karma, as well as reincarnation are not dogmas of Buddhism either and neither of them is the core of Buddhist philosophy and meditation practice. I think most of these concepts are very hard to appreciate if you’re coming from a Western worldview, as Abrahamic Religions have heavily influenced our approach to understanding religious ideas. Actually, the way people become atheists in the West as well as adopting secular humanist values are also affected by Aristotelian/ Christian / Abrahamic ways of thinking. The separation of religion and science is also a very Western concept- partly derivative of the biblical narrative about the separation of Earth from the heavens and which results in the separation of the “sinful” worldly things from the godly things. In India you are a hindu even if you don’t believe in God, or even if you refuse to deal with the question altogether. There is no right or wrong way of searching for spiritual answers in Hinduism. In fact, Indians think Buddhism is just one of the many paths of Hinduism, as well. The problem starts when westerners apply and project their own inherited belief patterns onto Eastern concepts. I like to think if Western Religions are the left hemisphere of the collective brain, then Hinduism and Universalism are the right hemisphere: it doesn’t make any sense to view the two as the same. I’ve also noticed how many Western Buddhists become very fixated on tantric and other syncretist beliefs and customs and how they crave for out of context esoteric superstitions you can find in certain Buddhist practices which provide them easy answers to fill the spiritual void left after leaving Christianity. The good thing in Buddhism though: if you find a certain teaching doesn’t make sense, you can always look for another path. It is a very open system and you can only understand it through practice anyway.

This is the best thing to happen to Ex-Muslims. Atheists and Ex-Muslims coming together and being strong. No matter what the differences are in the thought. Ex-Muslims especially Ex-Muslim atheists need support and power and sometimes even basic safety and needs, just because they're thinking freely. That's really tragic. But, with this positive inspiring conversations and coming-togethers and getting togethers, this will go a long way in Ex-Muslim empowerment and their movements and motives besides giving basic human rights and safety. Other countries like especially USA, Canada, and other European countries should get inspired and follow this. So that the Ex-Muslim empowerment and freedom will come to the point of almost normalization of descent, just like ex-Christians in USA, UK, or Canada etc.

From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” You see, Albert Einstein proved that time is a relative illusion in his theory of general relativity. The way we experience time as a shotted arrow is different from the way God sees time. The past, the present and the future, He sees it all at once. He gave us the revelation of his coming future and the future of this world. A new world order ruled by Satan, a one world government, one world religion and a cashless society in which you won't buy and sell without satan's mark of the beast. As you can see, the world is moving fast towards his goals. The RFID chips are a starting point to the mark of the beast technology. The economy is going to crush very soon which will lead people to join cryptocurrency. Rumors of the coming wars everywhere which lead to an ultimate chaos in which people will be led to accept the new world order..this corona virus plandemic is just satan's first domino to trigger the chains of events...In the book of revelation. Jesus declares himself to be the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the ending. Who is, who was and who is to come. The true Time lord 🤔. History is his story. Well honestly speaking they weren't able to answer where they would ground their morality on..Rationality rulez attempted to say that we've evolved to not suffer so we wouldn't want it for others such as our loved ones which is problematic....Let me put a simple question if it's to avoid pain or suffering which is inevitable (for example you can't control the timing of death of your loved ones or you can't avoid getting old and suffering the loss of youth) then why not chose to die in a peaceful manner without having to suffer any pain of that's the objective? Oh if I die what about my loved ones? well if you really believe that they shouldn't have any pain or suffering then they should be the first one you've to go for to relieve them of this suffering by asking them to kill themselves for their own good...That's what Nihilism ultimately leads to...Simple question does living cause more suffering or dying? If you live you've to suffer then why not chose the other way around?....

The real question is; how does life have more meaning by pretending there is a God?
@katybee2552

"The idea that if you let go of god, if you let go of religion, then your life is devoid of meaning is a hypocritical statement from those who believe in the one thing that I think takes meaning out. It's often said that being an atheist is something that will take away meaning, but religion is the enemy of meaning. There is nothing that is more evocative of Sisyphus putting his rock up the endless mountain, than an eternity in heaven. Time is like a fabric that thins out the more you stretch it. People talk about time being spent, I think the terminology is right there, because you can consider it like a currency - For a man who has a billion dollars, a single dollar is worth absolutely nothing, for a person who has an eternity of days ahead of them, a single day is worth nothing too. The only truly meaningless life, I think, is one that fails to recognise the urgency and limitation of our days, because they expect some greater thing to come from the after-life. I think that we on this panel would reject such empty anticipation and challenge anyone that says our lives our less for doing so"

So, shall we get together say once a week? Let’s choose Monday. A year later: “the religious people keep beating us up. Let’s organise a group in charge of protection and security. In fact, let’s attack them before they attack us.” A thousand years later: “here we gather today to celebrate the day of St. Steven who bravely beat the verbal crap out of Jordan Peterson and paved the path for a better and less annoying way of conversing and answering questions. May Harris and Hitchens smile upon his ashes. By the way bring your donations on St. Alex day and then we’ll have a raffle; and the winner will be drawn, as usual, on St. Drew day.” It’s frustrating that we are bound by the human condition and the species that we are. Religion and rituals are part of our evolutionary progress. I’m looking forward to when we evolve into a species that god or atheism become non-issues.

Here's kinda the issue I have with the argument he uses as to where atheists get their morals from, and this is from an atheist myself who struggles to find the answer to true morality. He's basically assuming that because it's universally considered to be in our nature, or atleast collectively as a large group, it's therefore probably the best or the truest for an optimal forming society. The problem with this however is assuming that humans themselves have already developed towards the stage as to where we're ideally designed for a progressing optimal society. But obviously we're not. Marrying little girls is still considered *normal* in many parts of the world, can you say that's inherently wrong then? Afterall to them its like nothing and they don't feel any disgust about it unlike us. To them it's simply *natural*. The entire argument Imo is a bit flawed cause it assumes what's in our human nature/what's natural = ideal or to be chosen for a functioning society. It's kinda like the argument that because somethings natural it's good. It doesn't really tell you why because something is natural it has to be followed either.

Shane Hull meaning is an arbitrary construct? 😂😂😂😂 meaning is what you reason for the shit you go through with your life. And it’s very individualistic. Meaning tells you not be a coward and cry in corner for the problems you have in your life but rather orients you to face them and tackle them. If you think your life is meaningless, then you really can’t justify your whole existence. If you think it’s a construct then you got it wrong. Your probably find everything to be a construct then 😂
