It's sad that this video seems to be even less popular than your regular ones and has two dislikes already for some reason. I get that the topic is heavy and sensitive but I fear there might be just plain antisemitism behind it. Predictably my favorite part of this video was when you explained the importance of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth for the concentration of Jewish settlement in Central-Eastern Europe. BTW the History Matters channel recently uploaded a video entitled "How Lithuanian was Poland-Lithuania?" (It's very good but it falls a bit into the trap of equating historical Lithuanians solely with Lithuanian-speakers, which is kinda like treating only Gaelic-speakers as Scottish), in which he passingly mentioned Hebrew having a sort of official status in the PLC. This resulted in much confusion and discussions in the comments, that made me realise that even Jewish history buffs don't know that much about the Jewish self-government in the Commonwealth. This seems like an interesting topic to cover.

Thanks for the comment. Antisemitism, the algorithm (the WW II channel struggles with it also), who can tell. For the dislikers I can say: brace yourself for the next video. I shall check out the video you mentioned. As of now I am traveling through Russia and WiFi is not accessible everywhere. In the upcoming week I will visit Birobidzjan which has interesting connection with Jewish history. A video will be recorded but uploaded after my travels. I will shoot a short video and upload that one on the Facebook and Instagram page once I have WiFi. Cheers!

I noticed especially Jewish Americans do not know and prefer not to know about the kindness of the PLC towards the Jews. They prefer to concentrate on the negatives namely on the antiJewish sentiments of 1930s. Ultimately they also like to press for reparations from Poland for the Jewish hairless property lost in WWII. This issue has become highly political in the last few years with Polish, US and Israeli governments involved in heated discussions. Therefore the Jewish side prefers to concentrate on the negatives because it creates a conducive environment for the reparations. That’s why it’s better for them to forget about the kindness of PLC.

Thank you for your clear, concise explanation of why so many ghettos in eastern areas and the 3 main viewpoints of what should be done with the Jews per the nazi’s-Hitler’s plan really but then all the anti-semites and brutal sadists were able to “execute” the plan with increasing efficiencies. It’s good for the world to heat all about this-again and again because I fear every time is the first time for too many people today-in the USA and elsewhere hate crimes are on the rise with the world being primed by some top people in governments and in violent gangs today. I’ve been writing on utube about all the similarities between these historical and these present days. We must not silence our voices but rather stand up for those who are losing their voices-being silenced in so many ways-because if we don’t use our voices we may lose our opportunities entirely! So thank you for your history hustle timeliness.

Many Poles were there. Two I know and loved. Gregory and Helen. Sept. 1939 they didn't know each other. Gregory was an unlisted soldier. He was some kind of honor guard ,A Hesser who had to take up arms but unfortunately captured by the Germans. He was now A POW. In the camp he was a talior. HELEN was a recently widowed woman with 2 children. She was arrested under false charges cause she was a tearhers Aid. She was lucky she wasn't just put to a wall and shot. She was always a tough person. In 40 She and Gregory friends, but Now Helen just went and was placed under arrest again under suspicion of shorting shells on their proper grain loads and adding sand to artillery shells. GREGORY stepped up and claimed he was a witness to HELENS whereabouts at a certain time in the last evening. And that HELEN was helping in the tailor shop to get a load of full length wool coats out to the East all that evening. They had a prison wedding Day after Christmas my parent tied the knot. RIP Mom and Dad!

@@HistoryHustle well thank you very much. But it was not ment to be sad. To me. The way they spoke of this it was the best time in their lives. They Loved each other very much. Without this taking place. There would have been 7 less American born in the post war era and still 64. The last of their children. Now they had a total of 36 grand children. And 37 great ones. There's been who've served in some branch from the first Generation, 10 more from gen x and now there are another17 millenials.

we have a great book "conversations with the executioner" (Rozmowy z Katem) of Kazimierz Moczarski, a description of the author's conversations with Jurgen Stroop - the executioner of the Warsaw Ghetto 1943. The communists closed Moczarski for underground activity during the German occupation and independence activity in 1945, tortured sentenced to death, from 1949 he stayed with Jurgen Stroop one cell. I would highly recommend :)

Another very good informative video on Nazi terror, Hitler was always aware of the Polish/Lithuanian Commonwealth so as he knew he was going to be holding millions of Jews captive for their eventual destruction, he hated the Polish so much he just thought of them as collateral damage.

The nazis hated slavs and wanted them as slaves or to be starved into extermination. They hated the poles particularly because a good bit of western and northern interwar poland was from the german empire.

As you travel to Birobidzan it it good to mention another idea of a Jewish state in Poland of the time which was the Free City of Bialystok. It was supposed to be an autonomous entity outside of Polish jurisdiction. This infuriated the Polish nationalists and caused a lot of Polish- Jewish friction, resentments, probably also antiJewish laws, etc.
