Those were some fun years to be a fan. People talk about losing the first round, but we had some really good teams that could have gone deeper but got some really unlucky draws. We did eventually hit the conference final, I think that team was good enough to go all the way, it just didn't quite shake out that way. Hitch hockey will forever be a favorite era of mine as a Blues fan.

that '11-'12 team is the 4th best goals against/game in a single season and the best over an 82 game season (1.89 GAA). Truly incredible how little they gave up. Shame they couldn't score the same way.

Man just imagine if they could. I don't think there would've been a team that could beat them.

You aren't kidding lol. Crazy how they scored so few goals and still won the division haha. If they would have just even been toward the middled of the pack or just above haha.

Had some good teams with him. That 11-12 team was so fun to watch. He sure came in and spun the team up to speed. Just too bad they could not get a couple cups in there. Got really old watching it go back and for from L.A. to Chicago🙄. Most frustrating was the Blues in BACK TO BACK years against LA and Chi blew a 2-0 lead and lost 4 straight both times to get bounced. Ridiculous, lol. Awesome coach.

I think it was 2011 but we lost in the second round to LA. The STRONG defense and killer goaltending with very good offense. That was the team with the most potential in my opinion. LA was JUST…UN..STOPPABLE. But I love Hitches explanation for this. Thanks for all the great memories 😀

Yeah, Jonathan Quick was standing on his head that post season. They just got red hot at the right time. If you can remember, LA swept the 1st two rounds as the 8th seed lol. They did not lose a game till the conference finals against Phoenix. Even then, I think they won that like 4-1 or 4-2. Edit: LA lost one game against Van in round one.

I wish that roster had won a cup too. Steen, Backes, Oshie were my favorites Edit to add: I’ll never forget Hitchcock saying he’ll have the power play fixed in two practices.

Think he said it would take one, not two, practice.

Hitch definitely moved the franchise along.....he was a good Blue...it would have been easier to just have Chief takeover rather than Yeo. Well things worked out pretty well!

Why is he giving Crawford credit? He had to be bailed out in 13 and 15? He played behind a super elite team

I was thinking "Crawford? Hes not that good. I would take Halak over Crawford easily."

Wait, I thought Blues was already a singular noun describing a musical genre, not a pluralization of a color.
@CrowT

The musical genre is exactly what the team is named after. What is the confusion?

i hated hitchsucks .. and i hate that he is still coaching the blues under army .. berube said in a recent interview he was forced to video time hitch per army .. army has his good ole boys club in place and ott seems to be another one handed a golden spoon from army ..helps keep cost of games bloated too by paying his cronies
