This challenge would probably be easier now with version 1.6. Snail targeted bait in crab pots will increase the chance to catch snails, and deluxe bait raises the quality to silver when you do catch them.

I so admire your perseverance in keeping going when collecting from the crab pots was becoming a chore. I think I would have caved and downloaded that mod that autocollects :) You mentioned Life as a Chef in a reply to one of your comments, I imagine that might provide a wider variety of game play then just the snails and snail related foods. I'm almost inspired to give it a go but know that, as a very inefficient player, I would have to give myself permission to sell foods that do not need cooking, along with the prepared meals/pickles etc. Interesting video, thank you for sharing.

Glad that you enjoyed the video~ Yeah, it was so tedious collecting everyday from the crabpots but there was something therapeutic about it in someway hahaha Yes the Life as a chef is in the works but the next video I am working on right now is Life as a Lumberjack which should be coming out in a couple of weeks, I plan to make this one a long video format so that's why it is taking so long

I've never heard of a challenge like this before! Well done! I would not be as disciplined as you were! I'd like to suggest a challenge I enjoyed doing once, inspired by Linus, which is to reject greed and corporate wage-slavery, and play without ever selling anything. You're allowed to make money through gifts in the mail or through doing personal jobs or quests (because you're very interested in friendship and human connections) but you're never allowed to ship anything or sell to merchants. You're allowed to do any normal activity such as farming, fishing, mining etc. but you will only do these things for your own pleasure/use, or to fulfil a fetch quest. You must try to reach level 10 in all skills, complete the CC, and reach max friendship with all npc except marriage candidates. (Friendship/love with marriage candidates is optional.) This run was done before they included Ginger Island to the game, so it's your call whether you want to include that part of the game into your challenge. I found this a very interesting and thought-provoking run when I tried it. It changed the way I approached everything, and the values I set on all activities and investments. I was very surprised at my outcomes, for what at first I expected to be a totally ridiculous and impossible idea. I would be very interested to see how you approach the challenge!

Thank you @Merialla for this awesome idea! I love when the stardew valley community gives great challenges and this is no exception! I am currently working on my other series Life as a Miner, Florist and a new one as well Life as a Chef, also another one for the upcoming halloween, but I WILL DEFINETLY put this in the works as well! It might just take a little time :( The challenge idea is an awesome challenge and was something very similar to what I had in plan as well, I was going to name it "Life as a good Samaritan " but still not 100% sure on what to name it as it could be changed~ I will try rack my brains and figure out a strategy that both impresses you and hopefully be a fun video for you to watch as well! Already I feel the dread of trying to figure out how to earn money for the CC, but that is a welcome challenge! I will make sure to credit you for this awesome idea in my video so make sure to stay tuned ;)

@@indiemasters FWIW, when I did the "no-selling" playthrough, I called it a Poverty Run. I was thinking along the lines that a monk would make a vow of poverty and dedicate himself to the service of others.
