There is such joy at an off grid property- from waking up in a wall tent to that first cup of coffee to a hard day's work ending with a raging campfire. In between there's lots of work to be done- projects, firewood, cooking, and planning for our future cabin. Beauty, silence, and wilderness is all around, reminding me just how lucky I am to be part of it all. There's nothing like an off-grid property!

(This is Tom again.) Thank you soooo much for praying to GOD before every meal. You are an inspiration to others who wish, and want, to live out in nature as you do.....to thank the GOD who makes your life possible and blesses you with good health, good food and drink, rest from a long day, etc. Please, don't ever forget to thank GOD for your daily blessings!!! I never understood why people gave thanks for their food until a life altering event/accident a few years ago. I clearly remember being very hungry and going to bed hungry almost every night. I give thanks for EVERYTHING at this point. Looking back, I can clearly see the arrogance and entitlement, I'm embarrassed to admit. Life has a way of teaching us the lessons that we need to learn and I'm grateful for that awakening. Sending love and light to everyone. Thanks for this fantastic video. New subscriber here. Thanks.💕💕💕🙏☀️

Ok, I really like all that you do and the fact that you love doing it. Everything looks super until you make your meals, in that you're not really self-sufficient. That coffee comes from a store, so does your food. So, somebody has to actually work "on the grid" to make the money and buy the food. To me, life "off the grid" is being self-sufficient with everything, including food. This is something I would really like to see you do. Other than that, you're a strong beautiful lady and we are soul sisters loving this way of life in that it has always been my dream. The thing is, we may all have to TRULY live this way sooner than we think.

Hi Brooke! I’m a new subscriber and have so enjoyed your videos! I grew up a “tomboy” and your videos are very nostalgic for me! I’m from Jacksonville Florida. I used to camp out at Vilano Beach and surf and fish all day at “Blow Hole” at St Augustine Bch., back in the 70s. In 1980 I joined the Marines and was stationed at USNAB, LFTCPAC, Coronado, California and stealthily camped out on Coronado Bch and helped train Navy SEALS during the day. Life was a blast until I came back home and got caught up in the corporate cage. I’m retired now and haven’t been fishing nor camping since. Your videos have inspired me to get back into nature and enjoy God’s creation again! Thank you and keep on sharing! BTW…we have like minds concerning breakfast scramble! Try Huy Fong Sriracha on top! I think you’ll like it too!

Watching you brought back memories for me from the days I lived with my father and step-mother in Saginaw, Michigan. Breakfast was a great meal and we had scrambled Eggs, bacon, toast, and fresh milk which we received nearly every day during the week from the home delivery man. The table you made using the two stumps is nice and will be nice for awhile and hope it last for several seasons for you all. That is a nice looking area you all have to live at when you want to get away from home and the headaches of life for awhile. The mosquitoes must have been in your tent and bit you while you was asleep and you just noticed it much later. I love my steak well done and do love having A-1 steak sauce with it and some potatoes also with butter on them.

Tuesday September 1st 2020 Hey Brooke, My ... that was a huuuuge spider! I definitely am not a fan of spiders so I totally got it when you said he has to go!! 👌 Love what you're doing to the property! It looks quaint and inviting! 👍 Thanks for sharing your pico recipe, I love Pico too, especially on my eggs and bacon! 👌 Well I have to say when it comes to my steak it has to be well done!! Lol ... I can't have it mooing back at me! And whether it's a good steak or not I still love A1 sauce on mine. A1 sauce just gives it that extra punch the steak needs. By the way the steak and stuffed mushrooms look delicious! I got to hand it to you Brooke, you definitely make the outdoors living look appealing! It's funny because I love the silence too! It's nice when I can hear myself think. Hence, the reason why I love working graveyard shift .. with no one around to bother me. I'm basically My own Boss out here in the high desert, while taking care of County property. It's funny because I agree with you that the night has a different sound to it, than the day does. I love the stars in the sky when I can see them of course. They built up the high desert so much now, that we have light pollution up here. And it's hard to see the stars sometimes at night now. Thanks for sharing Brooke, you're a gem! 👌 God bless you always my friend! Callie Nash from Apple Valley California 🍎🇺🇸

Steak: med rare (hot & pink) basted with butter, garlic & worcestershire while grilling. Lots and lots of mushrooms sautéed in butter, ice tea with lemon and no sugar, chocolate for dessert.. I so enjoy your camping and outdoor adventures. I even enjoyed Nam as an infantryman in 1969. It was just a perpetual campout. Great adventure except for being shot at and mortared. Keep the adventures coming Brook and Dave...Get happy!

I love your videosand your life style, you actually remind me of my younger self and how I grew up, camping in the back woods and wilderness areas of the Sierra Nevada mountains. I commented on one of your videos about my life and myself, hope you read it. I am a small but mighty spit fire like you. Ya, I wore red wig work boots to at one time, plus I gotta have my earrings too no matter what I doing. I have lost a few favorite earrings in the past, some of my silver and turquoise, a enameled one with a mountain, sun, and pine tree went to the bottom of a lake were I was teaching a canoeing class to Young Girl Scouts. I make my own pick, salas, and I live to make Mexican shrimp cocktail, I have to have Tabasco too. I do my toast like you do, in the pan or in a griddle. I Also add a little garkuc salt to it if I am having spaghetti, clam chowder or something like that. I didn't like big spiders either, I am not afraid of them I just don't want them in me. I can build things like you do, my Dad was my best friend growing up and he thought me so much and to be independent, thank God he did I like your decorating style to. I wish I could be there with you sometimes. I became disabled a few years ago due to a bad accident, plus I will be 70 this year. I spilt a lot of wood in my day. My Dad built a cabin when I was 18, I helped him, plus it was heated by a large cast iron stove. He later bought 40 acres of forest land and built a house in it, in top of a mountain, I helped him, plus it was heated by 2 cast iron stoves. I heated my home I had for 20 years with a wood stove, a Buck Stove, so I can handle a chainsaw and a axe pretty good. Anyway, were I live now is just a few miles from the little farming town I grew up in and in about a hour and a few minutes you can be in the mountains or at the beach, the ocean is Nice to visit now and then, there are some Great redwood Forest on the coastal mountains of California. I live in the central valley of California ❣️ I love the Sierra Nevada mountains ❤ I love cooking over a campfire, my grandma tought me well, plus I can bake in a Dutch oven on the fire. I am a A-1 person too. I love that you always pray over your food! Keep making great videos, I love watching you ❣️

We just had that conversation about a good steak and had the neighbor lady over. Neighbor and my wife was giving me a rough time about my A-1 on my Thick-Cut NY Strip steak. Steaks were cooked on the side sear box grill. I explained it's the same as a good Bourbon & Coke. It's a desired / acquired taste. Makes me feel a bit more sophisticated vs. the hick that I am. Lol. Looks Great ! Good upload. I'm envious. God has blessed you, no doubt. Happy for you and yours. ...Alan in 🇨🇱

I love the waist high bar table you made. The place is looking great. So nice that you have a place to get away from the carnage in the cities. Those spiders are common size here. Mostly harmless but who relish the thought of a big spider crawling across their face when sleeping. Not me! 2” bacon wrapped filet mignon Medium Rare. With stuffed mushrooms drizzled in olive oil & fresh garlic. A nice fully load baked potato or Sweet potato with honey cinnamon butter. No condiments. I dig my steak in the garlic olive oil from the mushrooms. A piece of Texas toast. I all ways have left overs for the next day. As all ways thanks for sharing. You stay safe, healthy & happy.

Hi Dave Bring some dryer sheet with you when you go in the woods. wipe your skin & your hair with one sheet you wont even see any bugs around you they will never bite you. I use it all the time when I go out at night at home & every time I go in the woods. Let me know if you try it. You will never buy any bug spray again again. Take care I live in Ontario Canada.

When I was a child we had a wall tent. Not that big or all the stuff but the best people to spend the night with. Then pancakes made over the fire on a cast iron fire. After breakfast I spent as much time as I could before heading to the stables. After a trail ride I came back to camp and we prepped for our dinner and campfire. Then like I've got to swing some more camp before we start cooking.

Forget the duck you need to watch out around you I was at the cabin in the out house and the birds sounded like they were fighting turns out they were warning each other that there was a bob cat coming down the paths straight to the outhouse the little beauty walked in front of me took one look and headed straight down the other side of the mountain in nature seems like the animals talk to you and try to warn you of any harm I sure wish I was right there with you enjoying the fire and the crisp clean sounds and feel of nature surrounding you GOD IS GREAT he has provided us with that wonderful thing and all HE asks is that we follow his word and take care of what he has given us and when we follow his word we get to have a long healthy life as a reward there is so much we need to be grateful for we have been so blessed when we open our eyes and hearts to HiM

Hello Brooke, from California, San Francisco, I’ve been enjoy watching your videos from beginning. You are such a interesting, brave woman to live by yourself in wilderness. You were talking about your son & daughter before, I’ve never seen your children, wish to see them. Your viewer would love to know you better by little involving your family into your fantastic videos. In this video, when you are trying to kill that big dangerous looking spider in order to not go inside your tent, make sure to zip up your tent & close the entrance, screen door.

I love your set up so much, I love the UP so much it's so beautiful and peaceful. I live in a big city in michigan. But my husband and I bought some property in Baldwin Michigan on a lake. Omg I love it there so much that we bought a house and plan on living in Baldwin in the summers. And eventually live there full time after our fixer upper is complete. I love the great outdoors and now I get the share my passion with my son who also loves to be outside. We have been camping all summer. I'm dreading winter because that means my camping adventures are about over with for the season. You have inspired me to want to start doing some winter camping in my tent. I've always wanted to try it so if I do this winter I'll tell you all about it even if you don't read my post lol. Ever since I was a little girl I've always been an outdoorsy kinda girl. I would always make cool forts and sleep in them with my siblings. My parents would have to force me to come in cause I never wanted to come back in. If it was up to me I would've loved in the woods lol. We had an amazing blueberry trail with some beautiful yummy berries. We would go out and pick an ice cream bucket full of them and my mom would always make pancakes or blueberry jam. Also when I was a kid we would camp along little Muskegon river all summer with my parents and family. And we would catch crawdads and make crawdaddy stew that was sooo good. I love all the memories I have from camping along the river. It was the place to be and everyone camper there. But now it's closed and no one is allowed to even be back there due to people trashing the place. But I'll quit rambling lol have a wonderful day.😄👍❤️

The one thing I wanted to tell you that I think might help mosquito bites I don’t know why but what takes the itch out is a glue stick just your basic average glue stick that the kids would use at school I heard about it last summer and it absolutely works give it a try I hope it helps
