What?! OMG! You go to MIT and then go teach high school? WTF? What a waste of an MIT degree. You could have went to Bo-Dunk community college and would have had more offers than you know what to do with, although I'm sure you had more offers as an MIT graduate. I disagree about the education degree. Those degrees are worthless. You should study in the field that you want to teach, then go teach. A education degree is not going to teach you how to be a teacher, sadly. My girlfriend was an education major. She is not teaching anymore. She figured it out eventually. Teaching is low pay and low reward.

One of the main points of MIT is to follow your passion. If he finds his passion in teaching, then who are you to discourage him? I strongly believe that there is much honor and reward in being a teacher. Many of our brilliant minds had a wonderful teacher. Do it right, and you may spawn the next Bill Gates. Sorry to say this, but you have a very poor outlook on life.

I just feel he can accomplish so much more. He's clearly very intelligent. Would his skills not be put to better use in say research?
