Open world is nice, but I'm excited about the moddability. The community could literally make our own mega expansions!

Comments like "this is a simulation game so all people are REALLY being simulated at all times", "you can REALLY take your character to work, not just click on a building and watch them disappear", "this is single-player because we want YOU to be in control of your stories and because we value your privacy and safety" and the "no need to worry about a DMCA" all made me smile. You can clearly tell which bear they're trying to poke. When you're trying to purposefully make a game in direct competition with another big company, it's critical to know exactly where the weak points of their foundation are and hit those directly.

I can't wait for The Sims to lose their players against this game. This seems so promising. I hope they tweak the characters movements and looks tho

Completely offline = no server crash on release day. Oh yeah, they are definitely competing with Project Renee, which has already announced it will be partly online. That's good - if EA learns from the past and builds enough server capacity, the two games can coexist indefinitely, one where you play with your friends and one where you play alone with your doors locked.

Rod said hold my coffee fr.. He knows the OLD player base we’re just so dissapointed with the sims 4 at launch. Going from the sims 3 which was an amazing open world FREE experience to the closed limited customisation of the sims 4. It’s just sad. Rod is bringing the “sim” genre back to what it always was.. a simulator. Of life, house creation, everything that comes with life. Life has no restrictions, life has a colour wheel life has no loading screens.. I completely understand how disinterested the newer sims players would mostly be for something like this.. this is mostly for the sims 2 and especially 3 players. As a long time simmer, I am excited. I’m excited for TSrene AND this. I cant support the sims 4 any longer and “live with it” when there are better alternatives. Bring us home Rod.

I’m so excited I wanted the sims 5 to be like the sims 2+3 and this is close enough to the sims 3 and I actually love all of the features/ideas. Thank you Rob Humble for creating my favorite games with the sims team and for actually listening to us instead of just trying to exploit us like EA. I’ll be saving up for a gaming computer because it will need 16gb of ram, but I’d rather have better graphics and smoother gameplay than have it watered down to be able to play on mobile (like the sims 5).

I do welcome all kinds of customization in the game! However, in some cases I do hope those who choose to leave some things at default can still have fun playing it. In any case the features sound very exciting! I do hope the NPC and background simulation is not taxing to the PC, (it sure sounds like it)

I hope this game definitely got some realism like actually opening the door with ur hands and walking all the way up to the car, recording moment, maybe show inside riding bus all of that will be cool in the game

The thing I am excited for is hopefilly the ability to make Life by you as hard as possible. I want to be challenged for once in my life simulation gamrs.

Hmm. I love almost everything I heard, but I'm nervous because it sounds rather.....ambitious. I know they can be better than Sims 3, and I know games came a long way, but I've played a lot of Simulation games and there are always limitations. I'll choose to keep my hopes up. Because it does sound exciting.

Kinda iffy on no violence. I mean, even Sims have cartoonish fights, shoves and agressive finger poking into the chest area. And it seems life by you wont have it. Same with emotional one, would that mean that you can't insult anyone? That's kinda lame, considering that Sims always had such option

For some weird reason I realized it'd be funny if once this comes out someone recreates My Immortal(an infamous Harry Potter fanfic & grandmother of shitpost stories) or My Inner Life(an infamous Legend of Zelda fanfic) in the game I wonder if there will be magic based stuff in the base game cause I have an idea for a wizard character.

not that i don't like the idea of it being single player, i think it's great for the privacy we all need and want when playing simulation games like these. but me personally i would've liked an option for single-player and multiplayer mode, so you can pick everytime you log into the game which mode you would like to play in, and as for multiplayer it would let you play with at least 3 or 4 more people like your own friends, but it all being optional. I would just really like this option as i know the feeling of playing alone for a while could get boring but that's just my opinion.

@@SimlikeitHot Slight correction: people put down The Sims for RELYING on mods to make the game actually playable, not for simply having mods. Many games have mods and use them well, with communities that love them. EA stands alone here in expecting mods to add the gameplay that EA couldn't be arsed adding and fix the bugs that EA couldn't be arsed fixing. Not every company is disgusting like EA. Paradox do mods well and actually fix their OWN bugs, in a fairly timely manner. That's a BIG difference. Don't assume mods are bad just because EA's behaviour is bad. Modded games aren't inherently bad - only EA games.

@@SimlikeitHot Well, I don't see a lot of people unhappy here. Most people are expressing excitement. Only a very select few, and those people are very welcome to move on to games they would prefer - there are about 99% of games containing violence on Steam - the poster has a large choice. The people with few choices are actually those who DON'T want violence in their games - there are very few games without it. And mods aren't usually (or shouldn't be) needed in ANY game (only in The Sims 4 are they totally needed because that game is ridiculously buggy and incomplete and has been for 9 years now). Mods usually add EXTRA to a game, either by preference or because someone has finished a game and would like to play it differently next time. The mods on Steam are NOT like EA mods where you have to hunt them down and update them all the time. On Steam it's all automatic - subscribe to them and forget them. And it seems like you're completely alone in thinking that Rod Humble is arrogant. He doesn't come across as arrogant at all. He comes across as massively excited. What Rod Humble actually said is that they are NOT adding nudity or violence. They can't add nudity with the game's rating. They are providing the ability for nudity to be modded in for those who want it. And violence can also be added by modding for those who want it. In fact it seems that the sky is the limit in terms of what can be modded. These are extras, not a necessity, for mods. Mods in EA are NEEDED to make the game playable and to add any kind of gameplay. That's not the usual thing with mods at all, if like a lot of people, you've only played The Sims 4. The Sims 4 only players, and regrettably there are a LOT of naive The Sims 4 only players, lol, will be rather shocked when they discover what a REAL game SHOULD be like, lol! That games aren't generally buggy as hell, laggy as hell and devoid of gameplay. I can see a lot of Sims players abandoning The Sims 4 when this comes out. And that's a good thing, because EA will actually have to put out a half decent product if they want to keep their customers. I suspect this just isn't your kind of game. Everyone has different gaming tastes and that's fine.
