Hello. Buddhism isn’t really a religion per se, it’s more of a philosophy, or a way of life. One doesn’t have to go through Buddha to get to God, as one does through Jesus in Christianity, or say prayers to a higher being, as there is no one entity up there pulling the strings. It’s more of quieting one’s self in contemplation, and to achieve through thoughtful meditation and purposeful actions, an alignment with nature, our deeper, truer nature. It’s learning to understand ourselves, the world around us, and our place in it. It teaches us gratitude and compassion for others, as well as for ourselves. One can approach this religiously, but in and of itself it’s not a religion.

It might not be that they don't care about you, it could be for other reasons. Sometimes people isolate themselves when they are depressed and push away all family and friends. They seclude themselves to a dark, impenetrable bubble and oftentimes leads to suicide. It happens more than you would think. I would reach out and ask if they are doing okay and if they need help, if not, drop it and let them disappear.

I have never found a friend who kept their mouth shut when confided in by me. That finishes me every time. I have also had several friends who just used me until something better came along.
