Wow. That's a similar story to a crystal mine in ... Arkansas if my memory isn't swiss cheese this morning. They were digging something mundane and found acres of crystals, not only the Herkimer type of gemstones. For the non-geology types, Herkimer diamonds are quartz crystals, not the hard diamonds. The value of these crystals is the clarity of the stone and the perfect crystaline shapes: double terminated, well defined sides, etc. Those into Metaphysics use clear quartz crystals for Health and Mental well being. For collectors: it is the perfection of the crystal that drives the price. No, these are not jewelry stones, it is the raw crystaline shape that collectors want. What an awesome story! Thanks for bringing us along!

I've been a collector of crystals and as you say the goal is perfect shape and clarity, if applicable. Personally, I wouldn't pay those prices for what appear to be very flawed crystals. Just my opinion.

I think he said one of the big buckets was for over seas buyers, and we have no clue what else they will do to the minerals to clean them up. eBay tends to be a magnet for Auction Hounds, who get caught up in the action, and don't care what the item is worth; they just like to win.

Thank you for sharing. My son and I used to dig in Colorado near Topaz Point and found many fantastic crystals, smoky quartz, and amazonite. One day I found a spear point while he was shooting his bb gun and found out the spear point dated around 1100 AD from the same area we were finding the crystals.. Your video is amazing and brings back memories..ty.

Also those types of quartz crystals are unique to only a few locations in the world being double terminated and slightly harder on the mohs scale than regular quartz.
@OG_Bearcat7 ай бұрын
Will you please explain what terminated and double terminated means?
@adamzajac34947 ай бұрын
@@OG_Bearcat terminated means it comes a point. When you think of a crystal you usually think of a perfect shape where The facets come to a point on top. Double terminated would mean that at both ends it comes to a point on the crystal. Double terminated as much rarer than one single termination.
