I like how Mike asks thought filled questions as opposed to just feeding and blabbing information. He's empowering them to examine their OWN thoughts and ideas. He genuinely cares.

It’s ironic (but understandable) that Charlamagne struggles with his dad being angry about things he never taught him, which interferes with accepting the totality of who he is, yet so much of what his dad taught shaped who he is today. From telling him what would happen if he didn’t change, to gifting him Malcolm X’s book (which helped Charlamagne see that every version of ourselves in necessary). The relationship may be strained, but that strain birthed the strength that loves, covers, and guides his relationship with his daughters. Great conversation!

good points, not every gay person is flamboyant and wants to shop or watch drag race, etc. Representation matters. Just like not every straight man finds every woman attractive. And if you think this is a "choice", when did you "choose" to be straight?

I deeply believe, under all circumstances, a decision is a word that is reduced because of its overuse. If a person took the time to understand the non-psychological factors that go into decision-making (emphasis on making) - such as neurology, how the adrenal gland works, microbiome, sensory system, and circadian rhythms (sleep pattern). It is not just the mind at play, it is the mind-body-environment-relationship; (yourself (starting from your history), friends, family, community, citizenship, racial inheritance, financial inheritance, etc.). All those factors, grow the same way a cloud grows, small water particles becoming a great cloud and it eventually rains, and it waters another body of water and so it goes on. I think if we see it that way, we can understand we don't make decisions, we can understand what factors (beyond us) make a decision but we know it is not just our thinking that makes a decision, it is a multi-factored process of making. I don't know if I made the matter clear?
