I think the worst team might be mastercard Lola. They competed in only one qualifying session in 1997 and they didn't qualify. That was their only appearance on the track ever

Not the worst team, but worst sponsorship deal. Their title sponsor forced them to race in 1997 instead of planned 1998. When others were unveiling their cars, Lola was just starting to develop theirs. No time for wind tunnel or on track testing. Way too late to secure a proper engine: The best they could get were Ford Zetec V8's from 1995. They weren't good then and this was time of rabid engine development. The fact that they managed to build a car from scratch in like 2 months and only lose 11 and 12 seconds against Villeneuve and his Williams (He was 2 seconds faster than Schumacher who was third..) is something. Not much, but still a lot more than what Life and few others achieved.

@@kimnice And the team got screwed by their sponsor MasterCard. The so called sponsorship agreement made funding contingent upon MasterCard selling a certain amount of "F1 Club" credit cards. Unsurprisingly there was little public interest in buying a credit card on the name of a team with no recognition in the marketplace. As a result the team received almost no money from MasterCard. The team had run up large debts anticipating it would be paid off from funds received from MasterCard and after two races of not qualifying was essentially bankrupt and dropped out.

@@williamford9564 ..on the other hand they knew the terms of their contract and still agreed. So that's on them. Lola had failed earlier and quit in F1 after 1993 season. They were also trying to re-enter F1 in 1995 and Allan McNish tested their F1 prototype. Maybe that prototype was so bad they couldn't use it as a base for their 1997 contender.

I still think that Andrea Moda was a worse team. See, while Life's car was atrocious, the team was bad because of sheer incompetence, while Andrea Moda's case, was a dickish team boss who sabotaged his own driver. I would take a incompetent boss over a prick who could sabotage me.

Great to see this series back again. Can you cover the 2 F1 teams that couldn't even make the grid in 2010. We know that Virgin, HRT and Lotus were bad but at least they actually raced. There were 2 other teams that couldn't even make the grid. I know one of them was USF1 but I don't know the other one name. Once again thanks FP1.

The Life team might have been atrocious race performers, but at least this team was only brought down by low funds and inferior engines. Andrea Moda was kicked out for bringing F1 into disrepute, because its behaviour involved *actual criminal activity* . Including a de facto attempt to kill Perry McCarthy. At least Life didn't have THAT sort of black mark against it.
