Hey there, you still clean? If so, THATS FREAKING AMAZING!! If not, IT OKAY, it’s not about how many relapses you have, or how long has it been since you have, what matters is how LONG can you go without; don’t worry about how much time it’s been since you last did it, focus on how long you were able to stay clean. Think “The longest I’ve been clean was five days, and I used to do ABC this much/more often!” over “I’m not clean anymore, I just got back on that train.”

I remember when I was a kid, I asked my dad what prison was. He told in a calm voice, "you see that ball there?" He said. I said yes and he just screamed, "WELL YOU CANT HAVE IT, YOUR STUCK IN A CLOSETS SIZE OF A ROOM, YOU GET NO BALL TO PLAY WITH, YOU GET NO FREEDOM, YOU GET NOTHING!!!" I have never committed a crime, or ever seen inside a prison. The original scared straight lol. Thanks dad

I explained to the young ones that it's being grounded. "Grounded?" Yes. You know when I ground you and take away all your freedoms? "Yea." Well, adults get grounded too. But they get shipped to a place to he grounded at for a time determined by the jury and judge. Some people get grounded for months. Some people for years. Or even decades. You lose all your freedoms just as I take from you. Granted, I don't stick you in your room. 24/7 like my dad did to me. You just have to be bored, and your chores multiply a lot in this house. But, depending on the crime. Some people are so bad, they get grounded in prison, yes. But the state decided that they cannot live anymore, and then the state kills them. (That actually reminds me. My father simulated prison on me, by sticking my ass in my room. He brought me my food, my water, and I only came out to shower. For an entire summer vacation.)

The prison that Shawshank was filmed that is in Mansfield, Ohio. Obviously, the old one that they filmed at is shut down. But I was at the new one which is also called the walls. I actually agree with you. Most of the time in upper level prisons, the guards just leave you alone. I was in a 3, a 2, and a 1. Food wise the one was best. But organizationally, the three was best.

Sir, I think most people aren't really getting what your saying! Ok, maybe not most, but some out here are thinking that your glorifying prison, and you are so clearly not doing That! Your saying the exact opposite You turned your life around, got off of drugs and are helping others do the same! I have nothing but respect for you because of that. Life is hard, but doing drugs, I would imagine, just makes things so much more complicated then they need to be. I have never done drugs in my life: I was way too scared that I would get hooked! I did drink for many years, and I was addicted to the alcohol, so I can pretty much guarantee that I would get hooked on something real bad for me! I have been sober for eight years, and I am never taking another drink again. I feel pride of myself, but regret the people I hurt when I was in the bottle; I try to make amends to my family, every single day! Thank you for what you do: you inspire others, and that means a lot in this world! Peace from South Philly

The minimum/medium I was in was nice because we had call center jobs the prison contracted from outside the fence and as no escape risk myself, I left the fence with one guard and 19 other inmates to work at DNR tree farm Mon-Fri. That was a 4 hr round trip bus ride and 8 working hrs so we were outside the fence 60 hrs a week. What made it hard for me was that my sister lived less than 5 miles down the road from the tree farm.

I moved from Jacksonville Florida to central Ohio 8 years ago. Shawshank Redemption is one of my all time favorite movies. I found out the prison they filmed that at was just 45 minutes away from us about a year after moving here. We went and did the self guided tour that next weekend. It’s a pretty cool place to check out. They still have a cell painted red and gold from Lil Wayne’s “Go DJ” video. Godsmack and other bands have filmed videos there as well. We went back 2 years ago during Halloween for their “Blood Prison” haunted house. I still want to go back to do another tour soon.

Bro, my story is almost identical to yours! Except I'm in N.C. and I pulled 3 years nine months total. I also went through all levels, twice, and another interesting factor during my bid is I also transitioned from youth spread, to adult. I went into the county jail at 17, and I was released from prison after I turned 21! And I definitely seen my fair share of mayhem while I was down. But hands down, those youth camps was unlike anything else I experienced at the other 7-8 camps I was at. When you're surrounded by a bunch of dumb ass, wild ass kids, (myself included) who have 20+ years and they aren't even 20 years old yet... all they feel they can do is to make a name for themselves early, cause the sooner they do, the quicker their shenanigans can be talked about, and turned to Legends on the yard. I enjoyed the vid bro, I relate a hundred percent. Oh yeah, another similarity between our stories... I was also labeled S.T.G. wrongfully. But the reason I was is because of a lifelong friend of mine being released and he wrote me, and on the envelope, "solid white, and hard as death row!" That's all it took. Smh... keep it up bro, again love the vid, you just gained a new follower. Have a good one.

Fun story: When they were getting ready to build Warner Creek DOC had these public meetings about the facility, and the planned lack of a fence was a pretty hot topic. All these ranchers get up in the meetings and start talking about what they pack in their trucks to deal with coyotes and whatnot and how they’re going to feel threatened if they come across someone in a jumpsuit and what they’re going to do when they feel threatened. DOC built that facility with a fence to keep the inmates safe from the community, not the other way around.

I never understood the prison system they were supposed to rehabilitee the people that went in so they can function in society, but nothing was done to meet that standard. then they started calling them correctional facilities and I have been asking the same question what are they correcting. I have been asking this question since 1988 and have not been able to get an answer to this day.
