Former CO here, married to a retired Police Officer... You are 100% correct. Bottom line, inside it's all about respect. Give respect, get respect. At the end of the day, COs are vastly outnumbered...why any of them get badge happy and fly off the handle, I'll never understand it.

Because sociopaths flock to occupations where they can act out their cruel tendencies and not get in trouble. Most C/O's belong in those cages right along with those they are tasked to keep from escaping.
@Teefs Жыл бұрын
@@silencedogood8800 Truth. Corrections certainly has its fair share of sociopaths and psychopaths on both sides of the bars. I know my prison actively tried to weed out those COs and staff, but it isn't always easy.
@silencedogood8800 Жыл бұрын
@@Teefs And therein lies a huge flaw, the courts too are strewn with ego tripping public servants trying to make a name for themselves at the expense of those they convict. The majority of the American Population are not criminals and are treated as criminals BECAUSE criminals lie and therefore everyone is suspicious of crimes and guilty of being a criminal BEFORE any trial has commenced, which often does not happen since the DA bullies and terrifies people to take deals. The system from top to bottom is rigged with metaphorical duct tape and thumb tacks, house of cards benefiting the few at the expense of the many under a BS premise of violating codes which never were actual laws to begin with. If we were to strip down a good chunk of convictions to their core offense many never deserved hard prison time to start with. Guards can say "I'm just doing my job". But weather you knew it or not you were complicit in lots of shady doings by sheer accident if not on purpose and just looked the other way. One of the major ways to start weeding bad public servants out would have to start at the top and would take DECADES of putting judges, DA's, public pretenders, cops/detectives and every form of public servant in prison right along with everyone else when they do wrong. It's very difficult to weed out the bad when the weeds are doused in miracle gro while the flowers get fed with clay.

As a former CO, I have always said that the job is to Enforce Policy. The Inmates know the policy better than any CO, so if they get caught it is on them. As long as a CO maintains a profession respectfulness they will rarely have problems. I did it for 7 Years in a Medium/Max... the only problems I ever really had were with the mental health inmates. Glad to see JD decided to change his lifestyle to stay out of prison. This video should be seen by all new COs.

I was a career criminal as well for about 12 years while I was addicted to heroin and meth. I’ve been locked up many times. I’ve always hated COs more than I hate police. I do understand that they are just doing their job but in my experience a lot of them are huge dicks about it. Once a CO refused to tell me what time it was. I asked him whenever he passed my cell on his rounds and he just ignored me. I felt so disrespected. Fuck that guy.I’ve met more than one CO like that too. It’s like they think they’re superior to us inmates to the point where THEY WOULDNT EVEN GIVE ME THE TIME IF DAY. Literally. After that guy I develop a strong hatred towards COs like I said.. WORSE THAN POLICE in my eyes. I’m sure not all of them are that way but those guys ruined the reputation of all cos in my eyes.

I grew up on the penitentiary grounds being close friends with inmates. When I was eight I started getting my hair cut by the prison barber. It was a very unique upbringing. Inmates Talk me about prison politics. The difference between inmates and convicts. How to trade and barter favors for cigarettes, in exchange for skining fish, skinning dear. It was a 2700 acre farm.. trustee inmates did all of the farming, lawnmowing, and many many things that I'll tell you about. I would not change my upbringing on that prison or anything. A friend of mine is a CO up in Washington her job is working the parole section she's a tiny but extremely respectful. Her husband is huge they call him Sasquatch. I mean the guy is just huge and extremely scary quiet. She told me the story guy was coming up on parole and he was giving her all kinds of attitude cuz she was asking him about placements rehab job things like that. And he got really explicit with what he was going to do to her when he got out. There was another inmate in the hallway that heard him saying this to her. She calmly did her next interview. And then called her husband as he was getting ready to call her he got a call that there was a fight on the floor so obviously doors got locked and all hell's Breakin loose and the guy that threatened her spent two months in the hospital then he went to the hole for six months for fighting and threatening her. When you got out of the whole her husband was his escort a very quietly whispered in his ear don't ever threaten my wife. Sasquatch had a reputation quiet calm but don't make him run

And that is the exact reason why these guards should be locked up just like the inmates..these guards say the same things to inmates the only difference is the guards are sick in the head because they assault inmates just out of boredom to have some excitement for the day and get no punishment or consequences for it..I know of a guard that rap** a female inmate and she filed PREA (prisoner rap* elimination act) paperwork on him and the other guards threw her in the hole until she said she made it all up and she even had proof but kept it quiet until she got out and now she is getting her revenge and that scumbag CO still worked her unit for another 6 months until he messed up and they transferred him somewhere else to do it all over again..some of these guards are worse than the inmates I am surprised they did not try to give her another 5 years for assaulting him because they will for them assaulting you..who would you listen to and believe a couple guards or an inmate? So even if you are the one that does get done wrong you cant do anything because we all know the cameras seem to not be working when a guard did a boo boo but you better believe it is always working when an inmate did the boo boo it is funny how that happens..I have seen and heard it all these officers should not be in the same class as human beings because they are far from it..those CO's that lie and stand by when a bad CO is doing foul things is just as much a POS as the one doing it and should be treated as such just like the criminals get treated if not a more harsh punishment should be handed out to them..I bet the CO in your story did exactly what he said they do beat the guy while he was cuffed because we do know they are cowards that hide behind the badge like most cowards would..it is sickening the things these guards do I am glad that some inmates make videos about it to show and bring light onto the situations..
