This sure brings back memories. In 2007-8, I visited my girlfriend (Olga) in Ocher. Of course, Perm was the closest airport and Olga's parents lived in Perm. It was an eye opening experience. I realized that people are pretty much the same around the world. I wish we could all "get along" better, without petty territorial disputes etc..

In Russia, the temperature in the middle zone ranges from minus 30 to plus 30 degrees Celsius. It is quite cold in winter, and sometimes it is very hot in summer. By the way, it's not true that at minus 30 you will freeze, the main thing is to dress warmly, and since the air is "dry" and there is no strong wind, minus 30 is not so scary.

Such a cool video, Elina! I’ve recently traveled in a platzkart train too, and our couches in the Far East look similar to yours in Perm. I was the most amazed by the wooden “П” letter, it would be so cool to see it from the train. And I’ve seen the photo of these letters on the embankment “Счастье не за горами” for many times, but I didn’t know that’s it’s located in Perm. This city reminded me of my city of Khabarovsk - the same streets, pharmacies everywhere, even advertisement posters on the street pole :D

The tram and bus systems is in a good condition relatively to other citites. The main mosque is just outstandly beautiful. The promenade by the Kama river is also really good. Also people in Perm seemed to me really friendly and open to talk relatively to Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk and Siberia. A lot of youth in the center which obviosly a good sign. Good city definitely would visit again. Btw I'm from Chelyabinsk :)

This is great! I’ve been to Russia a few times (Moscow, Samara, St Petersburg) and all over Ukraine & Belarus, and this brings back happy memories. Yes, the sleeper train I once travelled on wasn’t quite as nice as that, but it was good enough (my rail trip was 15 years ago.) Seeing how people live their daily lives reminds me of what I already know… prejudice and propaganda between east and west are the domain of the politicians, but the vast majority of the people I’ve met in Russia have been good, decent, responsible and friendly to me as a foreigner, ready to help and happy to talk. So it’s no surprise that I married a Russian girl 11 years ago and we have a beautiful Anglo-Russian daughter (your pretty niece reminds me of her!)

Be proud of your own country : that's why I look at your videos like I do with Sergey Baklikov Russian Plus Я Russia Etc... Your videos is helpful to discover or better understand your beautiful country. For me - from France - the most important differences concern homogeneity of the population , quality of education. I do appreciated your food : traditionnal or gourmet one. Soups, pirochkis , blinis , buckwheat of course. Your country is still underrated for tourism. I think it's still a consequence of URSS bad image in the west. You have a fabulous potential for tourism developpment : beautiful countries , safe and pretty towns , welcoming population. Your videos are very important to give an objective vision of your country. I know there is a tendancy in Russia considering things are necessarily better in the west : that's less and less the case. I know many people who want to leave our country and try something else elsewhere, especially to give their children a safe living environment and a quality education. Dissidents changed camp. Thank you for your videos.

Wonderful. Love to see cities in Russia that foreigners don't often get to visit. Yes, Moscow and St. Petersburg are amazing, but it's so great to see the out of the way places that are also worth seeing. Thank you.

Во-первых я очень рада, что это не был стандартный блог "как всё у нас плохо, а там у нииих хорошо", мне понравилось с каким уважением вы рассказываете о Перми

Thank you, Eli, for giving us an overview of your hometown. It's nice to see other cities in Russia besides Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Vladivostok. You provide a lot of energy and fast-paced shots so your videos are quite entertaining and informative

My last time in perm was back in 2003, when I went back again in 2019 there was so much improvement in the city and its look. If you have not visited Kazan yet, I recommend taking a look at it.

This is the first video of yours that I've seen Eli and I loved it. I loved the warmth, the normality, and it is all genuine and from the heart. Sure, Perm does not look like Moscow or St Petersburg but that doesn't matter!! It looks like a nice city, a nice place for people to live, and you presented it with much love and pride. Even if you do feel the need to travel to other places! I think your plan to travel and do videos within your own country is fantastic. My experience of Russia is a 6 week trip to Moscow, St Petersburg, Kazan and Elabuga (also on the Kama!), where we stayed with my wife's family. We met her friends and family all through our trip and travelled everywhere by train. It was great to see the places that normal, ordinary Russian people live and to be welcomed into their homes. Such warm, friendly and positive people! It comes through in your video and I am looking forwrd to seeing more. :)

Your niece and nephew are adorable. Russia is a big, beautiful country that has considerable variety in its geography. I could see myself living in many of the rural or subrural areas. Thanks for giving us a look at your home region.

Seems like a good city to grow up in. Looks clean, safe, lots of greenery. Also the Russian countryside looks beautiful.

By far, this is the best travel vlog about Russia I've seen on YT. It's always refreshing to learn about a country through its own people. Best wishes from Sri Lanka . Subscribed

Спасибо youtube за рекомендацию и вам, Елена, за видео. Сам не так давно перебрался в Питер. Но взглянуть на родной город под таким углом ещё не доводилось. У вас отлично получается! Спасибо)

Phenomenal job on this video. Your narration really helps bring the viewer into the experience. As if we are by your side walking the streets. Seeing more of Russia through native Russians is a welcome breath of fresh air. The quality of life in this city is very good it seems. The civic spaces are inviting, spacious, green and lively. I'm intrigued! It's rare for an American city of just 1 million people to be this lively. This is largely due to suburban planning which favors the car and less dense communities.

This was a very interesting video. I have traveled through Perm several times on the train but never had time to stop. So happy to finally see more of the city.

There is actually a historic connection between Russia and Australia which many Russians are familiar with and that is Anna Pavlova. She was a world renowned Russian ballerina in the early 20th century and did a tour of New Zealand and Australia . And as a tribute a cake was made and named in her honor the Pavlova. I'm sure as an Australian u would be familiar with that cake but maybe not the history behind it?

Perm seems to be remarkably clean compared to most European and especially American cities. There also seems to be an air gentle freedom and calmness which reminds me of provincial England in the 1960s. Especially I noticed a lack of traffic fogginess in long shots. Visibility even in hot weather without wind is so unusual to witness.

Wow, there is so much to see and do in Perm. What a place to print currencies and other documentation. Street musicians and cruise ships. Thank you for sharing this with us and stay safe, from Henrico County Virginia.
