Back home in anesthesia and I am LOVING it. However the extra time means I got Step 3 out of the way, the last of the USMLE Step exams! Can't wait until I get to come back to my home department for good but intern year just got a whole lot nicer without Step 3 weighing on my shoulders.

How do you feel about CRNA encroachment in anesthesia? I know this conversation comes up every year, but what does the future of anesthesia look like? Of course, I don't think anesthesiologists will get replaced entirely, but do you think what used to require 10 physicians to staff will only need 1-2 physicians for more important/complex cases that CRNA's can't deal with? I mean, if I was admin, I would definitely hire CRNA's over anesthesia to save the hospital money and hire few physicians for more complicated cases. Just curious on your thoughts!
@nevergoin28
@nevergoin28 4 ай бұрын
There’s enough patients that need surgery for Anesthesia professionals to go around. An anesthesiologist would always be needed because they are usually the ones that can manage like 4 different rooms making sure everything is going okay while the CRNA’s can complete the procedures. I wouldn’t be too worried

Hey Andi. Asked this question in a previous video. I know you went to MCG and they offer MD/MPH or MD/MBA as part of their enrichment phase without additional cost or years. Is there a reason the majority (including yourself) didn't opt for it? What are some of the downsides? Thanks and great content by the way.
@NDMD
@NDMD 4 ай бұрын
Great question, it’s all about interest. I did not have a particular interest in MPH or MBA so I didn’t pursue it. The curriculum also wasn’t flushed out yet so it was a gamble for my class to pursue it. It’s probably changed over the years so can’t comment on it in its current state

the USMLE CS is a waste of time. It’s completely unrealistic and serves no one. In reality, it should penalize for over-ordering. I do know that the COMLEX apparently penalizes for this, but either way it’s a scam.
