I’m a nurse. I was in between Cali, texas, and Charlotte too. There’s no perfect city and I had to realize that. For me the reason I’m choosing clt is I feel it’s a happy medium. I don’t want too much bad traffic, nothing cold but not TOO hot either. Somewhat walkable etc. But I agree it’s not super popping either, but it does have the basics at least. While I’m there I do plan on taking trips to other cities to get a feel for them too. The good thing is, you’re never “stuck” you can leave anywhere at anytime. And I agree about knowing people! I’ve been in “boring” cities but if you know they right people, it can become fun!

I relate a lot to your journey and appreciate these updates! The tough thing is it looks like most of the nation is not doing great... A lot of the worthwhile places are in the cold, too. I guess it's just a matter of being lucky with a corner of the world that suits you.

OMG, I’m so happy you made this video because I feel the same way but I don’t want to go back to nyc. I was also considering Texas but it’s too far from family, I don’t know what I want to do once my lease ends in may. Part of me wants to give Charlotte another try but the other part wants to explore other states. I am a homebody because I don’t know people but your right about getting out because time is flying but eating seems to be the only thing to do .

This is interesting I’m living between Charlotte and Houston though it’s probably a 70 /30 split . With Charlotte being the latter . Somehow the mix works for me . I have lots of family in Charlotte and it’s close to NJ where I was born and where most of my siblings are . My only gripe is the public transport situation, in Charlotte . It’s funny cause I work in IT Data Architect and Healthcare - Scientist and for me the wages are lower in Tech here . For healthcare though Texas Medical Center can’t be beat .

Really great content. I went from KZbin searching "apartment searching in Charlotte" to a subscriber to you guys' channel. Like you I decided to move from my home state. Lol I swear you both are like the girl version of me. Ironically enough, as mentioned before. I'm from Houston (Nigerian) born and raised. And I'm moving to Charlotte next month and your videos have helped a ton. So now I'm going to return the favor. As you know Houston is like Nigeria capital USA lol. There are tons to do, ...however....seeing your vibe and your interest I would suggest Dallas over Houston. I'm from Houston and I'm not looking to go back any time soon. If you have any questions about the cities in Texas, I'd be happy to help.

@@EJIMANnenaNgozi Of course you're welcome. Although I'm from Houston, I'm moving from San Antonio, I've been here about 5.5 years (longer than I anticipated loll) But yea, it was long overdue for me to leave the state. Omg yes, Houston has a large number of Nigerians, so there are plenty of places to go and things to do. Seems like there's a traditional wedding almost every week. I'd also say consider Austin, cost of living is high, and it is a much different feel. Plenty of outdoor things to do, food, food trucks, etc.

Texan here. Dallas and Houston are both good in my opinion. Houston has more of an international presence. I think you might like San Antonio. It's a big city but more laid back. It's also pretty mild year round. There are occasional cold snaps but they don't last long. Austin is a boomtown and currently the most expensive big city in Texas. It's also the least diverse.

Have you tried lagz restaurant? It’s an African restaurant and bar, to me you have to really indulge in the social scene to find out what’s going on, even if you go out every weekend I doubt you could do all there is to do in Charlotte and by the time you do there will be something new, here’s just a small list of places people may find interesting: sportsone, qcsocial, cloud south end, popperatzi, stats, firehouse, art gallery, bar one lounge Phillips place, hideaway, stadium, 15th street social, members only tasting room, section at recess, monarch room, explicit bar and lounge, 360 lounge, oak room, church and union, also Jenny and waffles is March 5th at oak room

Consider a state with warm weather and diversity. Took a risk and moved to Phoenix, AZ October 2021. Making a great money and meetups are better. Activities are available. Did hiking, rode on hot air ballon, and plan on doing lumberaxes with a friend in a week. I totally agree that you have to go out there and meet people and also be okay doing activities by yourself. I do morning hikes in mountains by myself. In regards to AZ, prodominately warm all yr long but the dry weather sucks on skin and hair. Need my humidity. Hard water....use of bottle water more often which is something I'm not use to. Lack of culture too lol. Looking to move to Texas in a year. More likely Houston. But I'm glad I'm taking risks, as any other person should be. WE ARE ALL ONE DAY GONNA DIE Y'ALL.

Based on your criteria, it sounds like Houston would be a good fit. FWIW, Houston has the largest Nigerian American community in the U.S. I suggest visiting a few times. BTW, consider being a visiting nurse in one of the areas of interest. The pay is outstanding and the commitment is less.Good luck!

Originally from Bergen County, NJ, I've lived in Hollywood Hills, West Hollywood, south Redondo Beach and now Long Beach, because it used to be affordable, low rent, etc., compared to NJ but now I'm looking to move to Charlotte. Just throwing this info out there, California is a beautiful state but the Personal Income tax rate is 9.3% and a house in a neighborhood where one does not have to dodge bullets is $800,000, rent in better neighborhoods with Air Conditioning are well over $2,000 per month.

Dallas it more professional might get a little bit more. Dallas you still get told at winter. Houston it more affordable. Houston is a oil and gas City. They have more pollution. They both Metro got 7 million people. I like Houston skyline than Dallas. I will choose Dallas then Houston. I like Charlotte than Dallas and Houston because of the tree lines. The heat in Dallas and Houston it's hotter than Charlotte.

@@EJIMANnenaNgozi Cannot come up with a clear Idea what state I need to live it. More importantly. Girl, I need a whole new set of skills. I guess this is the issue overwhelmed, with so many issues at once. I will get it a little at a time. I am single celibate 59 never married. No job for 2 years. Trying to get caught up on bills and electric. All kind of programs helping praise GOD. The last job I had let us go. I have been looking for better jobs. Things are slowly getting better. I am purposely exercising reducing my weight. This is going amazing with portion control. WORKING on my social media pages. Changing my hair clothing. I am in major transition. @@EJIMANnenaNgozi Thank you so much for your response. I did seriously think about and research so many states. I was thinking about Raliegh and then SCARED MYSELF OUT OF IT. I lived in Raleigh back in 2007 for three years with my young teenager. I may have mentioned it. That was a wild trip I did not expect. This was my opinion. When I ask my son, he says no problem the was the best days of his life. I feel bad for pulling him away at a young age. From our support at the time. He was about maybe 17 years old. The past is the past, I tell myself. Anyway, lol TMI my bad Ya'll. He did not do anything wrong. He Just started growing up and doing his own thing. So, if I go back. Do I try to pick up with people at my old church? Mostly white all the blacks left. But nobody is acting like they would be glad to see me. I would be starting fresh and new. So, I was not sure how to approach this either. And with some money. if I really pushed past my fear. could do Raleigh, Nc.
