Born and raised in Charlotte. Believe it or not uptown used to be kinda ghetto lol and most of our “Projects/Hoods” have been torn down and gentrified so I’m happy to see what it has become I never would’ve thought so many people would move here and like it. Living here since birth I decided to move on the outskirts of Charlotte in 2020 but I love to see my city thriving and all the new people here💪🏾💪🏾

The banks are FORCING all of us to move to Charlotte in order to keep our jobs. Most of the people who you see in uptown are not originally from Charlotte and they didn't move to Charlotte because they wanted to. Charlotte is important to the banks because of the stock trading floor that we have there......and it's New York City that is behind the scenes building Charlotte.

Can I ask you a question I hear that the area is filled with snakes and flying roaches, is there an area that has little to no snakes and flying roaches?
@simplyshatice6 ай бұрын
@@ByCrystalWilliamsgirl no 😂. There is no area in NC that doesn’t have palmetto bugs (big black flying roaches that you’ll wish were normal sized). Snakes are touch and go. I may see a snake 2-3 times a year but those bugs have seasons 😅 winter, summer, mid fall… matter fact just get you big stop spray and spray every 2 months. Then get a raid can cause they do not die immediately. They are not regular azz bugs. They are gangsters 😮💨

I like DC but the traffic is crazy. I’ve gotten used to it. The advantage is there is always something to do and somewhere to go, the disadvantage is finding somewhere to park your car while you step out or coming back home at night to no parking space available. That’s the only thing. Other than that, I have four or five states within the area of the DMV that I can visit so I’m never bored I have family here but I don’t know them. My work and church family make it easier to live here.

@@DesirableBeautyy So Dallas is a very beautiful city I lived there 1yr in 2023, I sometimes debate if I gave it a fair chance and should try again. It’s expensive I’m not going to lie, if you like luxury expect to spend luxury money. I paid $1600 for a 612sqft apartment 🥴 but I also lived in Addision right by the beltline, which has alot of restaurants and shopping. I would say if you plan on living within the metroplex expect to pay more. Outskirts will be cheaper some great areas Addison, Farmers Branch, Plano, Frisco( very far but nice) Las Colinas, Irving. Also no state income tax in Texas, and no property tax on vehicles. You do have to renew your registration every yr which is easy. I do it from a app on my phone, get a inspection and then just complete the rest on my app they send a sticker. I only stepped foot in a DMV 1 in 5yrs I’ve lived in Texas. It’s extremely hot in Texas due to the humidity, I haven’t been to Charlotte yet so I can’t really compare. Texas heat is no joke especially summertime, you will literally not want to step foot outdoors. I think Houston humidity is alot worse than Dallas. It does get cold in Dallas to me and I’m comparing this to Houston a place that doesn’t get really cold. Dallas also gets snow occasionally so expect the city to shut completely down and everyone to panic because they’re not equipped for that type of weather. I’m from the Midwest so it amazes me how they act over alittle snow🙄. Also our power grid sucks so expect to lose power occasionally 😩. Now as fas as the people 😂 Dallas is Boujee and not really in a nice boujee more of like a pretentious boujee. I tell people this all the time you either get really hood in Dallas or really Boujee there is no inbetween. I found it harder to make friends in Dallas than I did in Houston because people aren’t as friendly in Dallas than they are in Houston in my opinion. If you are able to make friends in Dallas I think you will have a great experience. I will also say I think it’s alittle segregated in Dallas, it’s most def not as diverse as Houston. I do think they are really trying to grow the black scene in Dallas with the black owned restaurants and businesses, but it’s not there just yet. I’m going to be honest don’t expect great food in Dallas, I was able to find a few places I love and eat at everytime I go back to visit. Dallas is really growing alot of corporations have offices there, they are building a disney world in Frisco, 2 airports DFW and Southwest Airlines has their own airport there Love Field. I would say if you haven’t visit yet most definitely do so and stay for about a week, you can even take a day trip down to Houston straight drive down 45 it’s only 3 1/2 hrs away. Alot of people either really love Dallas, or just think it’s a ok city.

Great areas in Charlotte, but Charlotte is still not organized in terms of the Hood/ and up scale. you can be driving down South blvd and turn a corner, and be in the Hood. To me, Charlotte is lacking. Infrastructure is not great, I77 from exit 1 to 12 is only 3 lanes and is terrible, highway lights don't work half the time, no Zoo, Aquarium, Casinos (in the actual city) or things to do for adults who don't want to club or just eat at a restaurant..old money denied a beautiful beach resort proposition in Huntersville last year because they didn't want the "crowd". The sports scene is great, airport is nice, plenty of concerts and people are making money here..so it all depends on what you want.
@PINKBOIKWEEN5 ай бұрын
This is actually the perfect comment only thing is I don't go to concerts.. And I have no reason to hang around the airport unless I'm flying, only Caucasian women are put on a pedestal to make money. And the black people who may have money don't care about anybody else Unless you're Caucasian .. Just don't be black and gay! Though the DOWNLOW syndrome is here deep...so... It's not a place to come If you don't know nobody here and start from scratch..

I've been hearing Charlotte is really nice. I have family in red hill, Selma & other areas. So much so that I've never wanted to live in NC for the fear of unknowingly dating a cousin or something lol. I've lived in KY & IN my entire life though & I feel like if i don't move now, I'll never leave & experience living somewhere new. My friend lives in the Mckinney area of TX & I've been considering that area or somewhere arrive houston, which i heard is great for singles like me. I hate the heat though. Charlotte looks nice, but also expensive. Idk where I'll end up, I'm just looking for a nice, safe area that has more things I can get out & do by myself. I really wanted to live in the city, like Chicago, where i can walk everywhere but it's too expensive unfortunately. I'm open to suggestions!

I've lived in Charlotte off and on for 14 years. My biggest critique is just the lack of history. I feel like that's the only thing that's missing. You go to other major cities and they wear their history proudly. It's rich and informative. You kind of have to go searching for Charlotte history. A lot of the historic buildings and homes have been torn down. *I think* we don't hear a lot about Charlotte history because Charlotte played a significant role in the Confederacy during the Civil War 😬. A lot of Charlotte's history aside from that is about the settlers, natives and black history. It sometimes feel like husk of a city. Most of the focus is on modern sports history like Nascar and Football.

So many people moving here....its so annoying! Crime has sky rocketed, traffic is crazy, and the whole vibe has changed. The Southern hospitality is fading. If you like restaurants and bars, they are catering to you out here. If you like to have a family with kids, get ready to be extremely annoyed with what the city has become.

Yeah... moved here 2019 for work and cost of living. I've lived many places, but Lord its boring af. Did all these rooftops and ... after once or twice... Beautiful weather, no lake,(that isnt brown) lack of real adult activities... the food is ok, lots of restaurants but... sigh its the south. The luxury here isn't luxe, most ish closes early... if u dont wanna eat all day... crime is crazy even when moving in nicer areas. I have friends and fam here, but I gotta get back to Chicago or ATL soon. If you are from a smaller city or want boring-ness, you prob will love it here.
