STOP P R O P A G A N D A The reality of Russia is really sad... Coming out of Kremlin's propaganda bubble... The totalitarian regime of dictator Putin and his followers, has been conducting a senseless war of unprovoked invasion of a neighboring state, Ukraine, with its recognized sovereignty and borders, causing thousands of deaths, total destruction of cities and territory, unbelievable war crimes since 2022, in violation of all international law and despite the firm condemnation and warning of the UN and the overwhelming majority of civilized countries, not to mention all the blackmail and all the lies. What the fuck are you talking about, without ever feeling a sense of shame, of pity for the innocent victims, of the wasted resources, of the pain inflicted by imperialist manias of a murderous billionaire and his followers faithful accomplices Russian citizens... You and Elina are just a puppet in their hands... Shame on you! C O W A R D S ! (In memory of А́нна Степа́новна Политко́вская)

🌸 Just a message from the Netherlands to express how much I appreciate and love your genuine interest to explore places and really get to know the people and how you let this determine how your journey unfolds, often in unexpected ways. Thank you so much for tagging us along these beautiful experiences and reminding us that beyond geopolitical, religious, linguistic and cultural “borders”, people connect with people. 🫶🏽 PS. The man at 13:25 is wearing a sweater that says “fietsenstalling”, which is the Dutch word for bicycle storage, so it made me smile to see this gentleman so far away wearing an uniform that people at Dutch train stations that work at these storages usually wear. 😊

Loved this video as a Georgian too. But referring to svans as not georgians and comparing their culture to Georgian culture made no sense. Every region of Georgia has its unique culture, we united to maintain that culture from outside forces. Svan language is different from laz zan megrelian etc… same with food, how we dress, party etc. in imereti you will find mostly vegetarian food when some one dies in svan they will slaughter a lot of animals. Every region is different there is no stand alone georgian culture without regional culture combined. Same people will refer to apkhazians as not Georgians and etc which is just sad.

As an outsider I thought it was not pro Russian at all! We here in the west (Holland) we only hear anti Russian about everything, and this was so refreshing neutral for me. She asked the woman who liked the Sovjet aera, but the man after that liked this time, she let him speak longer! So I did not see it as pro Russian but just not anti Russia either!

Actually from the perspective of a Georgian the video is so freaking terrible! She’s absolutely lacking information and I guess never did any research about the places she visited. This video is not informative at all, it shows almost nothing, what have you learned about Tbilisi? That there are 3 soviet buildings connected with the bridges? Ridiculous 😂 About Kutaisi? There is nothing to see there 🤦🏼‍♀️ What a shame! One of the oldest cities, with so many artefacts, monasteries, natural monuments, caves etc… only thing she showed was a shitty district, also ridiculous! What’s more, Svans are Georgians and it’s so freaking wrong to say it in a different context, Svaneti is one of the regions of Georgia, with a rich culture and their own dialect, which belongs to Kartvelian languages. So many more things to mention but I’ll finalize with the words - Russia and Georgia are NO FRIENDS! Soviet times are in the past and it will never happen again!

Keeping promises is also a matter of appropriateness. I for instance don't always keep to all my promises, especially if a person don't remember me of them, which I barely know! But in her situation as a guest of the house and these circumstances I would have tended to act similarly also because of all the positive side effects and opportunities within.

Can imagine, that you are right, never thought about it. I also had problems with speaking it fluently because of a lack of practicing, but understood quite everything an average English speaker told, watched quite often English movies for over a decade etc. So oversimplified said, Germans usually at least understand English well. The older people in East Germany if 50+ years understand rather Russian language (or both). In Western Germany you can get along quite well without learning a single word of German. I got to know a lot of English speaking people, who never really needed to learn some German and even complained about that circumstance. But the scholar system of Germany slowly declines since decades as well, obvious and unfortunately!

Thank you so much Eli for a fantastic video. I think this is one of my favourites. What a beautiful country and people. And an amazing hike through the mountains. Like you say, people are friends everywhere. Good people from one country can be nice to people from another country, even if the governments tell them not to 😊 I want to visit Georgia now

Not many orthodox christians there in a small country of Georgia, unfortunately. Sadly, many of them are woke (specially newer generations) that got possesed by ideology since pretty much most of media & "education" is controlled by west. Would skip this one.. Unironically, they were more christian (and more sucesfull) during the Soviet times

What a lovely story! I always like the topics you choose and your story-telling. You ask my questions and you look with my eyes. Couldn't make you a bigger compliment. Very nice camera work and editing, too. You are my guide through a world I have not (yet) visited. And I couldn't ask for a better one. You have a uniquely authentic, simple and humorous style. Previously, I had no particular interest in your part of the world. Now my bucket list is getting longer and longer. Among all the KZbin-travel channels I know, yours, "bald and bankrupt" and Peter Santenello stand out.

From Mestia to Ushguli, that is a big hike, and a huge elevation. We hired a cab, one full day round trip, cost us around $80. It was 10 years ago. I think Ushguli is the highest inhabited village in Georgia.

Eli, when you film, you have such a talent for it. You do such an amazing job on these videos. You seem fearless of those around you and you have such a warm and calming energy about you when you interact with people. Something small I really noticed today was when you were filming one of the old apartments, you managed to capture a small moment of everyday life in Georgia - a mother with her small boy in the window, very curious (or suspicious 😂) of why you were there! Your abilities with making videos and telling stories just keeps getting better and better! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us! Because of you, I'm sure I'll visit Georgia one day)

Hi Eli, I'm Goh from Malaysia. Last Sep, I travelled with my wife and a group of like minded friends to Georgia. My trip organiser/leader had a local tour operator who provided a bus for 18 of us and a tour guide who used to work in the army. We covered the places you did too, especially Svaneti Valley where we stayed at Mestia. Hats off to you for taking the longer scenic route from Mestia to Ushguli. 4 days of trekking through snow covered mountain passe as well as tree lined valleys. Gorgeous. We would have loved doing it too. Fortunately for us, we did this mountain trekking in Tushetti National Park, north east of Tblisi, where we stayed in a guest house in Upper Omalos valley. Thanks for bringing back fond memories of our Georgia trip. I'll keep watching your travel logs to learn more about Russia with so many republics, 190 ethnicities, and just as many languages unified by Russian (and now with English also taught in schools). Keep up the good work which we can see (and feel) you enjoy so much. Cheers

Eli, what an x-mas gift. My plans to explore Georgia this summer didn't fit the schedule. So now I know what I will definitely do next year, no matter what. Kind and humble people with strong family values, close to nature, low and easy taxes and super business friendly for builders and risk-takers. This region seems just like the Swiss alps and if Georgia manages to stay independent, it could well become the next Switzerland. Same story of poverty, violence and struggle to self-govern their land.

How nice to see you in Tbilisi! I need to go back, because we didn't make it to Svanetia. It was a very nice holiday, Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Gori, Borjomi and Batumi. My wife made me learn the Georgian alphabet so that we know where the buses go to. I even tried to lean some Georgian, but after asking "do you have milk?" - tkven rdze gqawt? - I gave up. We found out that they speak good English in Tbilisi, but on the beaches of Batumi, you're better off with Russian.
