I'm from Bolton but moved to Leeds in 2017, aged 37. The first year we were homeless and then in Beastly Beeston but after that i got supported housing in hyde park and then my council flat in kirkstall. I love it!! This last 5 yrs (since moving out of beeston) have been awesome ❤ I have got clean after 25 yrs of drug addiction to crack and heroin, graduated 🎓 with my BA (Hons) in Innovation and Skills for Social Change from Leeds Beckett University and currently looking for a job where I'll be using not only my degree but my lived experience to help and support others. Best decision we ever made is moving to Leeds, even though i miss my family in Manchester. We still meet up and talk regularly on the phone and WhatsApp etc. ...

Tom, as a 53 years old Irish gay man growing up in Rural Republic of Ireland, aside from 3 years living in Dublin, but living 22 years in Manchester, I think that on balance and by comparison, your generation has it much tougher than our generation ever had - your generation has so much more social and other pressures placed on you than we ever did at our age, plus your generation has far less relative freedoms than we ever did at your age - I still have extended family in the same village in Rural Ireland where I grew up, including of your generation and I see the same things, almost insurmountable challenges, on both sides of the Irish Sea, amongst young people these days - you might have more rights, equality and other advantages, but it has all come at a terrible cost, in comparison to my generation at your age - I’ve worked 30 years in supermarket retailing on both sides of the Irish Sea and I’ve seen all the changes first hand, where very few if any of these changes are good for your generation at all

Don’t think it’s as cheap as you’re making out , 550 a month in LS1? You have no chance . 3 years ago I moved to Leeds centre cheapest I could get was a studio for 555 a month which was tiny and was nearly a mile from the actual centre . You’re looking at 600 /800 for a studio and 800-1000 for a one bedroom apartment . 5 bed house for 200k ? Maybe in a proper rough part not in the centre . The residents you’ll get in it will either be wasters or students who cause damage . £3 pint ? Even when you made this video pints was Atleast £5 now they’re £6. You wouldn’t get a full takeaway for £4 .Just chips and a drink . Prices are obviously cheaper than London but it’s still expensive here for the wages you’d get etc
