Life in the Mountains of the High desert, Leveling a spot on the home stead for the next build.

I'm working on the next build location for a 10'X20' Garden Shed and garden area, finishing stacking my Shiitake Logs I inoculated last week and had a visit by a White Tail Deer at the creek. Much to do a bite at a time and I will get her done!
On this channel I will be documenting my off grid cabin life and how to make life as self reliant as possible. Hello my name is Allen English and I have always enjoyed the outdoors and retired at 58 to live my dream. Along with my cabin build I will document some back packing trips as well as fishing and hunting trips. Some of the ways I will do my build will be old school, but with a mix of modern tools as well. Lots of nice updates to come :D Yep like me you have a 25 year plan of things to do. I went and googled what an Appalachian Cabin looks like so I understood what you are going to be doing. Now I can't wait to see that one being built. :D

The irrigation idea is genius. The Russians build their homes around their stoves too (Siberia = cold). Smart to have it right on a foundation peer. They also build outside oxygen intakes right into the foundation (below the stove to outside). Then the incoming air gets preheated by the warmth of the stove for better combustion!

@@offgridal They have masonry stoves with heated benches, & even beds! Like the whole cabin is literally built around them. Definitely some time tested stuff over there.
