I love watching all your adventures. I have a request: Would you please do a video of regrets/I wish I would have done this instead relating to the following: purchasing land, purchasing tractor, purchasing mill and the cabin build. Thanks and keep up the great content....

That's a good idea Don the man, I will have to struggle to find any regrets, but surly I have something I regret about it. I will work on something that will be fun. Thanks for the input. 😀 Great Idea!

@@offgridal Maybe regret is not the correct word, how about: I wish I would have done this instead? Thanks,

We have picked a lot of morels in the burn out areas in the Okanogan Valley. I hope your slurry works!

Thanks, I have heard of a good area near me to pick them as well, but thought it would be nice to have them growing here. I am starting another batch of them this week as well as some Shiitake mushrooms in Ash trees I cut down.

That stain made the cabin look really pretty :D Being out of the wind is amazing I hate the wind. Milling your own lumber might be more labour intensive but I bet it is a whole heap cheaper than buying. Have a great week :D

Yes milling my own lumber is much cheaper and it certainly does take more work, but just the little cabin build has almost paid for the mill. I am pretty sure the cabin would have cost me 15k US to buy already built. I like doing the building and milling it's very therapeutic to me. Thank You!

Hey AL I have a question...I seen you putting down for mushrooms and liked that have you ever seen my self reliance putting in store bought slugs into logs just curious on your opinion on which is better and also what kind of dead trees is best for growing mushrooms? If you know!
@offgridal6 ай бұрын
Hi Bradley, I have seen Shawn doing that.. I like the idea of using the sawdust spawn inoculation into logs over the plugs, so that is what I will be doing. For Shiitake mushrooms I read that the white oak was the best hard wood to use for these mushrooms, I only have ash trees so that's what I will be using. I prefer a live trees 3" to 5" diameter for this and I believe a live tree is best from my research as well. Thanks for your questions and interest.

Hay al just one of your neighbors I just wanted to say hi I was up you way the other day I have a gray Atv if you see me going by just yell so we can meet
@offgridal6 ай бұрын
Hi Bryon, It would be nice to meet you, come by any time. I think I had seen you drive by my place going towards my next door neighbors the other day, but kind of thought they were on their ATV. If you come down the driveway with the gates you will see my mill and cabin and I will most likely be working with the mill making beams and boards. Neighbors are always welcome to stop by, my no trespassing signs are to keep the hunters away so I don't become a accidental target on my own land.
