I took it as the timeline that they're in (dead one) was fractured, so stuff was on a loop, that's why Safi is shot in the beginning and at the end of it all, the end of the loop is Safi dying... then it resets, you meet him in the dead world, and the Alderman that is doing the investigation is wrapped in blue so he's also from the dead world, there couldn't be two, so when he touched himself they both poofed, time travel and paradox's are confusing within themselves.

In the post credit we see that Diamond aparently got powers too, because of the nose bleeding. Thats why she was so interest to find out why Max got powers in the end

I played lis 1 before jumping into this one just for the sake of continuity, and I have to say that doing that made this ending an even BIGGER letdown than it already would've been. This whole game just completely misses the point of what made the original game so special. The first Life is Strange is the kind of game that sticks with you forever. There's a reason it still has a strong fanbase even 10 years later. Double Exposure is the kind of game I'm going to forget by tomorrow. This could've been such a great game, it's too bad the devs don't understand the franchise or its fanbase at all.

Ignoring the hatred from the "oh yet another multiverse story" crop of people, I'm actually intrigued on where the story would go from here. If Max was able to merge both universes together like that, could that happen elsewhere? Could she go back to Arcadia Bay and find Chloe and everyone else there alive and well; regardless of what was chosen? Maybe that could lead to the introduction of other characters from the franchise coming into Max's story for the first time. Get Alex Chen and even Daniel Diaz into the mix. These LIS games are never more than about 20 hours total; but a full cast ensemble with multiple playable characters from across the franchise could be pretty epic. Maybe that's what the intention was when they decided to bring Max back in the first place. But who knows?

I mean I understand people are hating on the ending as it makes no sense and it's everywhere but honestly if you played Bioshock Infinite you would understand it. That game Bioshock Infinite is something else I tell you. But yeah this ending is pretty meh and probably my only complaint is Diamond having powers. It makes no sense as she barely had screen time and all this time she was just obsessed with beating Vinh in a voting race and being in love with Moses that's it. Honestly that's my only complaint and maybe the game costing 80, 100 if you bought the cat content. I admit it's a fairly big game and has a decent length but it should have just been 60. My only hope so far is if they continue it they 1. Actually end the series and 2. Actually answer questions such as where the powers come from and what the storm actually is. How come Alex didn't need to face a storm?

My theory is that all life is strange games are going to be combined in one game for the next generation. I’m sure we’re going to play Safi and it’s going to be about finding Alex and Daniel and maybe other ones with powers. So they can finally find answers of deciding if they’re gonna use their powers for good or bad. Alone they’re too weak but together they could change a lot. I know people with nostalgia are hating this but I think Double Exposure was insane. It had a lot of plottwists and shocked us. Turned everything around and gave us a ending none of us expected. Exactly what I personally hoped for. So many references to LiS1 and who knows maybe we’ll get a side game like Before the Storm where we go After the Storm and revisit Arcadia Bay with Max! (Also the fact that Max started to heal her trauma and isn’t lonely anymore is such a good story) I’m so excited to see what’s gonna happen next!!

I agree, the plottwists and writing up til end of chapter 3 was amazing. But what makes a life is strange game is the consequences and the characters. The story was so well put together but it just fumbles from chapter 4. Like so many choices actually had no consquences and the characters just feel like fillers and are not well thought out imo. True colors did a great job at showing how the consequences in combination can impact the ending, while this game didnt really give us that. This story did turn out completely different from what i expected and I am glad this story was not similar/predictable like the other games. I loved the themes in this game , especially Max's Trauma, really giving some level of character development. To not have chloe in the game was disappointing but ive accepted it as she would have distracted us from the story and other characters.

See I liked that each area they explored they have like 1 person who gets superpowers, which may lead up to the big bad or the answer of why these people getting these powera. It makes the world bigger, but the fact they made Diamond of all people have superpowers in addition of Safi is being too ambitious. It wasn't necessary. They could have Safi reach out to some random in a different area because if you have Diamond having powers, it doesn't remove the possibility that there might be another superpowered person in the same university. They could have made both the brothers in life is strange 2 have powers, but they only made the younger brother have powers. There is inconsistency here. For people saying we have Rachel and Max having powers in the same area, but the thing is Max came after Rachel. Max moved to Arcadia Bay, she was never there in the beginning.

icl the whole safi avengers thing is complete bullshit. The powers werent meant to be marvel superpowers, they were meant to be ways to explore the fears and anxieties about the world and your place in it. Max's time powers represented her regrets about the past and her struggle to accept her present. Daniels telekinesis represented his anger at a world that seemed to hate him just for existing. The third one idek something something trying to understand why people do terrible things (i didnt play it so i dont actually know lol). The powers and the people that have them were never weird, or strange. Life is (strange).

If you say Max's power awakens when safi gets shot, then safi wouldn't get shot in the first place, because there are no alternate timelines or at least the other max should not be able to switch between them. Because that's not even an alternate version of him, in the other timeline there is no murder to investigate. So why does he disappear, if he touches a past version of himself?

@lian0. Ok yes, I get that this can be explained with time paradox things like the bootstrap paradox. So you say the timelines existed separately from one another until Safi dies. That makes sense. But why does Max from the other timeline not kill her own Safi? How is it possible, that the other Max (alive timeline) kills the Safi from our Max (dead timeline)? If the timelines split and max gains this power on the moment Safi dies, how can our Safi be dead? Shouldn't the other Max kill the Safi from HER timeline? Our Safi shouldn't be dead and should not have a photo of Max with a gun, if everything until Safi dies happens separately from our timeline... And also, Max would never kill Safi. That just doesn't fit her character. In their timeline she can't possibly have enough information to know that this will stop the storm or anything that gives her enough information to decide to kill Safi. Because to stop the storm she would just need to calm her down and teach her to control her powers. Killing her seems so useless and dumb. Alderman: But why are people seeing past versions of themself? Shouldn't they see like themself from the other timeline or something like that? Why does Alderman see himself from the past investigating the crime scene? And why did Reggie? There is one big problem in comparison to the first game. It was ok there, that the origin of Max's powers were not explained. But they worked and everything was logical in itself. It's also ok here, that we don't know WHY Max can jump between timelines. But it makes no sense in itself. It feels like there is no real answer for my questions and the only logical answer would be "because the plot needs it that way". The game brings up questions like why did Max kill Safi and never answer them later. The plot twist in chapter 2 was so strong, but then never gets resolved.

@lian0. Yes, but you cant explain everything in a story with free will. Free will is the perfect explanation for, why max didn't kill her in chapter 5. It's the opposite of what these timetravel stories do usually. I like that this isn't predetermined. But we sadly never got an explanation for why the other max killed Safi in the beginning and why she is in our timeline. Even though I think it doesn't fit Max's character to kill her, but even if she had good reason for it, I don't understand why she killed OUR Safi in OUR timeline and not her Safi in her timeline. Because like you said, the jumping between timelines ability was available for max AFTER Safi got shot. So how did the other max came to our timeline? And "idk I guess it makes sense because time stuff and multiverse stuff" is not a good explanation. The story brought up questions and if it doesn't answer them, it's just lazy/bad writing. That's a typical problem many mystery stories have. Not explaining enough and ending with plot holes.

And any Max must be there, because to travel through this photo somebody needs to take it before. So how does the photo exist? It exists because some max shots our Safi. How does this max came to our reality to shoot our Safi?

tbh this was a decent game, but I didn't really enjoy how the story ended out to be, starting from the revelation of Safi's powers. I only played LiS 1 & BtS, so I don't know if LiS 2 and True Colors are actually more like this one. But I think I was the stupid one for hoping to see more similarities to the first game lol. Overall, I wish the plot didn't end up being so shallow. I ended chapter 5 having more questions than answers, which will clearly won't be answered in the game's potential sequel 😅

At episode one just after Max trigger her first power, we saw vision of Safi in front of the statue when my intuition suddenly become suspicious of Safi. I have BPD so its like i blackened Safi, being wary of her and i'm not even saddened or care of her death anymore all happened in the blink of an eye.
