Probably the only issue I have with Double Exposure after playing through the full thing twice is it actually goes with what I've always felt, that Chloe dies is the canon ending to the first game. Even when the first game came out, the fact that Chloe dies ending is this long cutscene that shows multiple scenes and has more depth to it vs Max and Chloe drive out of Arcadia Bay if Chloe lives. I get the desire for choice and to respect the players experience (given that we've had like a full 10 years nearly since the game to sit with the characters) but playing through it as Chloe having died legitimately makes the game and the story make more sense and feel more poignant

Maybe Max still has her rewind power, but she’s currently unaware of it. Later, she might be able to use it to rewind time, perhaps to use the gun, save the world, or try to save her friend may be? That's why she's in that photograph? no idea. seems like even twin idea is too obvious.

I think they did a real injustice to people who chose the save chloe ending... the people who chose the save Arcadia ending got the better story so far. I thought ep 1 was kind of boring and ep 2 was saved by the ending. I hope the other three eps can salvage the game for me*. I'm glad we're getting more Life As Strange atleast

Okay, hear me out, I think the final decision of the game is going to be whether you kill Safi. I think there are doppelgangers running amok through the timelines, and you're going to learn that they're only able to do this because Max has been joyriding across timelines to figure out what happened to Safi. Your choice will be to kill Safi and set everything right, or save her in your timeline, but condemn all the other timelines to their fate.

This was a great preview! I've enjoyed all the LiS games and although Max isn't my favourite character of the series, I'm still looking forward to playing this one. I do feel compelled to hold off for a while though, the paid early access shenanigans along with the very expensive Ultimate Edition (£75 for a LiS game?!) mean I'll wait till there's a discount.

Did anyone else assume when they first heard that Max could hop between the twin timelines that the two timelines were extensions of the outcomes of the "bay" or "bae" decision from the first game, with Max acting as a nexus artifact to bridge or anchor both dimensions, as I did? Given what Jane has gleaned from her short time with the game, it seems that this is not the case, and the Max from the player's discarded timeline wants to change or unify the timelines for some reason, possibly to create what her non-player-possessed mind sees as the perfect timeline.

On the other hand: Jane is clearly being very careful in this video about how she discusses Chloe's presence in the game. If the two timelines are bae and bay, that is exactly the kind of reveal that Life is Strange (esp. Life is Strange under Deck Nine) would use as a Big Reveal or Twist. The exact kind of thing that either reviewers would be asked not to spoil or wouldn't be included in the first two parts at all. I'm not going full tinhat and insisting this is the case. Just think it should be stressed that this theory (especially since it fits the story and themes of the franchise so well) has not been as totally ruled out as it seems.

I suppose theorising at such an early stage with so little evidence would just build unrealistic expectations and could potentially influence Don't Nod to alter their intended concepts later on if the twists are deduced prematurely, getting people in trouble for no reason. I've played the first 2 chapters early because I got the ultimate edition, never say never obviously but I chose to save Chloe and it doesn't look like she's going to put in an appearance beyond texts etc. I'm okay with that but a lot of people on the subreddit are furious and attacking the developers and generally being toxic, it's really pissing me off.

Also if Chloe lives, we already saw in David's trailer that Max and Chloe ended up together. Why would they just rewrite the timeline like this? Life is strange 2 and True Colors were great. their mistake was 3 things, 1: losing the rewind power, 2: rehashing the same oh no my best friend died and I have to figure out a way to save her shindig, and 3: Not having chloe in it properly. What I would have done was add power to her rewind time, rewinding is too good to lose in a game, I would keep that, and just upgrade those powers, I would have used the upgraded power at the start of the game to go back properly and this time able to fix it by creating a new timeline with Amber alive by saving her, then I would have Max, Amber and Chloe in the future of the prequel and have them all goto university together, to which a group of kids including Amber and Chloe with Max, and 2 more friends or so to copy what sliders did, and have Max lose control and drag them all into parallel world with her, and she doesn't know how her powers work, so they stuck there until she explodes again, and since all her friends are tied to her world, she drags them with her no matter where she is. So many parallel worlds, each being dangerous, and thus dangers unfold in every wormhole she creates, and each one has drama, thriller, horror, basically what sliders did in 1996 but with Max and her rewind powers as well on top of that. Chloe will also be a playable in new game+ with her biitch powers, and Amber would also be a 3rd playable after Chloe with her beauty powers to influence and control men to her will. huff huff.... Hows that.
