Here’s a 2 step process to changing your life. Step 1: When you start wishing you had done things differently, or started earlier, realize as fast as possible that there is no benefit to ruminating on those points. Step 2: accept the reality of what is and then put your best foot forward from where you're at. This is what it means to have a growth mindset.

I would add having a plan or at least an idea to do better. Growth mindset without actual growth will only lead to losing confidence in yourself even more in time.

I agree with both, but definitely more with number 1 (because I'm in the process of puttin my best foot forward); but that first one keeps popping its ugly head up. It's almost absurd if you think about it; almost like wishing it didn't rain yesterday...

For those of you who are interested in reading the summary: 🔴 Part 1: Expectations vs reality: - Comfort is an impermanent state that humans love to call home. - The longer we box ourselves into this mental house, the more uncomfortable it gets. - True comfort comes from reaching the level of mind that is comfortable with the inevitable discomfort that life presents. - Fleeing towards the mental comfort of a past experience creates tension that can last longer than we want. - This tension can introduce feelings of being lost, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the future. - Discomfort provides clarity, but many people fight it instead of leaning into it. - When we are in a loss state, it becomes difficult to see beyond the problem itself. - Theory must meet practice, and actions must align with words. - Observing societal patterns can help us see when people's actions do not align with their words. - Grounding philosophy in reality is important for success in business, relationships, and personal growth. 🔴 Part 2: Concept vs Experience: - Reality is experience and all concepts are layers over experience. - Concepts, knowledge, etc. come from experience. - You can't label something until you've experienced it. Understanding is internal, while knowledge is external. - The concept of God is an example of concept versus experience. God is a concept pointing towards an experience. - Religious people attach to the concept of God, causing tension when others disagree. - Knowing concepts allows you to know, experience allows you to understand. Knowledge is a layer on top of reality to understand it. - Understanding is an inherent aspect of human consciousness. - Experiencing life leads to more of the human experience. 🔴 Part 3: What is vs what isn't: - Distinguishing between what is and what isn't can help bridge the gap between expectation and reality. - The present moment, direct experience, or what's right in front of you is the only thing that truly exists. - Thinking about something is not the same as experiencing it. - Negative thoughts and projections can create tension and lead to inaction. - Expectations and concepts are useful, but should be treated as guides and not reality. - Meditation is a good practice to help get out of your head and into reality. - Problems are a part of life and can't be solved from the same level of consciousness that created them. 🔴 Part 4: Levels of mind: - Problems are inherent in life and create a gap between expectation and reality. - Closing the gap between expectation and reality requires a higher perspective, increasing one's level of mind. - Mind refers to how one interacts with reality, including beliefs, ideas, skills, experience, and potentialities. - Solving problems increases one's level of mind and allows for viewing problems from a better lens. - Personal evolution requires increasing one's level of mind by solving problems. - Experience gained from solving problems can be transferred into business, where solving problems for others is profitable. - Teaching and helping others also helps to gain more experience and solve more problems. 🔴 Conclusion: How to apply this knowledge practicaly: - Pursue a challenging goal - Remain conscious of the present moment difficulty - Hit the critical point of the perception threshold - Reach a new level of mind

I really resonate with everything you say it’s really amazing. 2 years ago I made the decision to change my life and didn’t let the doubtful thoughts hold me back. Now the trademark application I did a year ago is going thru, I’m forming an LLC, and a multitude of other things like having my logo made, packaging, the whole 9. All those decisions are compounding into the success I have now. Staying focused on my goal and noticing things that will help me get there. You said something about this in another video and all of this I would not have noticed if I wasn’t focused on this goal. Networks have been built and this is just the beginning!!! Listening to your content and other content about motivation has only helped keep me in this mindset. The freedom I have now is the best feeling ever. Keep doing your thing man you really do got it figured out.

Dan, recently found your channel. I'm a lawyer from Brazil, who is seeking to abandon the law carrer path. I also write poetry and existential reflections. Your channel is inspiring me to go beyond the conventional path, to seek for a better future where I can and will do things for myself and by myself. I belive I have a good power in synthesis, which I've trained in Law School 5 years ago, but I don't expose myself (in a good way), like you and other people do. And i'm just starting to figure out why. All your videos are great, but this one is FIRE brother. Thanks for compiling these lessons, I'm a new avid follower of your channel. Hope you have a great life man.

Yes! In order to achieve true comfort, one must reach a level of mind that is comfortable with the discomfort that life presents. Most people flee from uncomfortable situations, but the goal is to lean into discomfort to gain clarity. You all should look up cognitive dissonance and how it relates to the law of attraction. Actions must align with words, and observing societal patterns can help one identify when there is a dissonance between what someone claims and their actions.
@smaqib

The bottom line is: true well-being only comes from accepting the inevitable discomforts of life. Also, leaning into the discomfort can bring clarity. I used to run from the heat of the sun, especially at midday... But after reading a post from Dan about the sauna vs sun exposure mindset... Man, that makes sense. Happiness is a SKILL. If you're like most people, your first reaction to discomfort is to flee. But that's not the path to true wellness. I've realized that discomfort can actually be a good thing. It can help us grow, learn and gain perspective. A unique insight: theory must meet practice to be effective We can't talk about being comfortable with discomfort - we have to practice it in real life. Experience is necessary to truly help others. We can't just read about discomfort and expect to be able to guide others through it.

I'm 42 with a kid trying to do this. If you're younger with less responsibility, PLEASE for your own sake pursue the path that Dan describes immediately, TODAY. Live in a simple place, cook all your own food, don't spend money on anything you don't absolutely have to; there's KZbin, Pluto TV, Tubi which are all free, you can get DVDs from the library and while you're there, pick up books on what you're interested in and read them while you take a shit, in the morning when you wake up and right before you go to sleep. Any books not available on the spot can be placed on hold and you'll be notified when they arrive. If you can afford to have a part-time job so you can dedicate more time to being your own boss than that's even better. There's no value in following the beaten path anymore, there is no future there, you will work hard for someone else until you die.

18:06 This sums the video nicely. And I'd like to add something to the mix. For those of us (like me) who are "mentally paralyzed" and can't get anything done, I suspect there is another step that comes before problem solving. It's a step called curiosity. A curiosity about life can help to get you moving. It motivates you to explore and go on an adventure. Practice your curiosity with simple things like going for a walk, or a hike, or a drive. As soon as you start moving, you will naturally run into problems. Because movement is naturally problematic. Your curiosity has to be so strong that you will be compelled to solve whatever problems you encounter. If your curiosity is sufficiently strong, you won't even feel like you're solving problems. Therefore, your natural curiosity has to be nurtured and encouraged. Even when you fail repeatedly, your curiosity needs to be protected. So that you keep moving.

@Dan Koe so mental mastery is all about *learning & unlearning* as everything is just a concept/theory/example of life from someone else's experience..so in order to be a mind master, we have to continuously act upon our present moment and learn/unlearn things...then only we will be able to decipher our life's true purpose to have a contented life..Thank you❤

I find myself consuming videos / emails etc before my job / work, at the expense of actually creating for 1 hour for my own business, because to my brain, it "feels" productive, though I know it's not, and it's not moving me towards my goal of freedom, it's moving me further away; do you have any tips / suggestions to help? 🙏

Dan I’m going to college, playing volleyball there, going to the gym 5x a week, have a girlfriend, obtaining my professional sales certificate which is equivalent to a minor at my school, doing sales competitions, and trying to get my personal brand started with KZbin videos and other content. Along with trying to balance the habits that I love like reading but I feel like I just can’t give enough time to KZbin as I would like. I’m only 20 but I desperately don’t want to climb the corporate ladder even though I am very good at sales and am very comfortable in front of the camera (have another KZbin channel The Jacked Nerd). I graduate in 2024 and really want to be self sustainable before then or atleast close enough that I could justify taking a year off and taking that leap. I need help getting my workflow consistent and faster

I find that there is sort of a dualistic trap between thinking short term and long term respectively. In the short term, there are all the immediate proclamations that your life calls for, and in the long term, people often literally see the finished product like a mirage in the desert. Almost. If you are very weary of your surroundings, I often find that there is something lurking even closer to you than your most immediate obstacles. If you are able to examine it carefully, it will make you come to almost an epiphany as to how you would be able to mentally trace your trajectory towards your end goal, no matter what it may be. It's from how people interact, to how society is run and the manner in which it affects the human psyche. Examine it with caution.

A Philosopher's job is to philosophize. They're contribution to the collective consciousness is to investigate human ideas to provide a backdrop of the historical evolution of human thought. That's their part in this play of reality. They are not there to provide solutions but their ideas can be used to create solutions for another's who mission is to find solutions. Just like how scientist "objectively" seek data. That data is used to find cures or innnovate... oh you are talking more of like Life Coaches ...when I hear philosopher I'm thinking Sartre. The title of Philosopher has downgraded since it's true height as a vocation.

I think you share great value in your videos. However, saying that philosophers don't link their ideas with reality just shows that you don't really know that much about philosophy. Empiricists focus on experience, Mayeutics of Socrates evolved into the 5 whys methodology that solves practical problems in manufacturing and other industries. There are many exemples of the practical use cases within philosophy branches mainly in epistemology, logic and ethics.

Thanks for vlog Dan, always gets me thinking Why don’t you talk about the life of Christ, is there a life of more suffering than that? JC is the only reason I’m still alive, with Him as my reference point I can endure anything. How does evolution operate in the Creator economy, is it a journey or is it straight up creativity? If you are in a boxed cage, how does meditation help? Won’t you just be meditating under the altar of what you are constrained by? For me The Bible is the foundation of the West. Every person is made in the image of God., the Garden of Eden, God’s Kingdom are reference points that can never be surpassed and will always elevate you above your current problems. Anyway is probably nothing to do with you, but rather I should start vlogging on this. Stay focused and thanks for the enquiry.

Hi Dan, I want to throw a question which I also asked before about the work routine: While saying 4-6 hours, do you recommend it for our dayjob/freelancing (and the remaining time must be for our creation/business in this case) or is it the total number both for the building side of things and the actual "work" (like the remaining should be just chilling and recovering in general)?

Ideally: you should never quit your 9-5 job till you'll start making money on your own, even if you already have some money saved up. So... having that in mind, it's just not realistic putting 4 hours of deep work everyday... start from 2-3 hours.
