this video was so touching, i can relate a lot to the family drama and stress and guilt and aging parents. i’ve been reading the comments, and you’ve cultivated such a caring and thoughtful community sha’an. you are so strong, and i’m so excited to see all your fun projects coming up this year 🥹💕 as far as delegating goes, i’ve been dabbling with a youtube editor who does like half of my videos and it’s honestly freed up so much of my time and creative energy!

My father-in-law has parkinson´s too. Not the shaking kind, but the one where he freezes up. It seems like it´s the same your dad has? It is so hard, because you never know how the day is going to be for them. Both my dad and my FIL are 85. I am only 39. It feels like this is happening "too early". Even though we are not super close, it´s still my family and I love them. It is hard and I feel for you so much!

yoohoo! this is just a little personal life update - I'll have a new video sharing some thoughts I've had on why starting is so hard and how paralysing a blank canvas can be coming tomorrow or the next day! See you very VERY soon!

That moment in life when you fill finally I am in a mature cool place, to suddenly realice that our parents are old tooo, and a new chapter in life stars when we star taking care of them like they did with us. ITs magic but also surreal momento to realice how time truly is short .

I love your videos so, so much, Sha'an. Even though the start of the year was so hard on you, you made this video/life update beautiful. Such lovely, gentle cinamatography 😭 Hope the rest of your 2025 is less stressful 💛

Oh, my heart goes out to you. Clearing your childhood home out is such a tough thing to do. I've actually been going through the same process with my parents/family all through the last year because Mom was diagnosed with Parkinson's & Dementia & had to move to a home care center, so my whole life turned upside down with theirs as well. You can do it though. Even if you'll feel drained as hell on some days, remember you are giving your best out of love 🫂

Hey Sha’an! I’m sorry to hear about the stress you have over how to care for your aging dad! One thing that helped me with my mum and grandparents was getting them Apple Watches. They are high risk for falls, and having fall detection on their Apple Watch has been such a peace of mind thing for all of us. If mum has a fall and she can’t contact someone, her watch will detect it and call emergency services as well as her emergency contacts. Hope this helps!

I just wanted to say this video really forced me to reflect on how long I’ve been following you and religiously watching your videos. You have had such an impact on my creative life by your vulnerability and willingness to share parts of yours. You will always be the best creator out there in my eyes you’re the goat and congrats on that 4th book deal!!

My heart is with you and your family, Sha’an! My dad’s had Parkinson’s for 20 years now (he got it at age 45) so I empathize with you so much. It’s so important to share info and tips - let me know if you have any questions as the kid of someone with it (who’s also aging).

It’s so scary to see your parents aging and trying to figure out how to take care of them as well as yourself. I hope you are able to find peace and relaxation in your future and work! Sending hugs 🧡

4 min in now.. Oh Sha’an! I totally relate to an elderly parent. Remember to take a breath and that you also need to put on your oxygen mask before helping others. Eat healthy, take walks outside, sleep where you can. You also GET to spend time with your family - how lucky 🙂🥰

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with your dad and for being so open about your feelings and what a stressful period it has been for you. I too have ageing parents and I worry so much about them and the future and what is the best thing to do to support them, so this video really helped me feel that I am not alone. thank you :-)

I know from experience how hard it is when you’re parents reach that age, both of mine are in their 80s now (84/88). Thankfully we live together but even though I am there on a daily basis I still find it’s definitely a balancing act for me trying to do the best by them as well as trying to be a full time artist. Anyway, I hope your papa is doing well and settling in his new home ❤

I've been following you from early Tumblr days, this is such a raw and honest story time Sha'an. Thanks for sharing, you're such a strong cookie - i'd have crumbled in that situation but you made it through. It's really cool all your siblings came together and used your strengths to get things done. Hopefully now you'll be able to spend more time with your Dad and build that connection again. Exciting things moving into 2025, yay! NEW BOOK LETS GOOOO! xo

Hey Sha'an-- I am in a very similar place just now getting back into work after stressful time "off" including a parent being in the hospital, and now trying to find a new work schedule around part-time caregiving for the first time 💛 I can *totally* relate to feeling stressed and worried about trying to do everything "right" while navigating these unsettling (but totally necessary!) transitions. Sending you warm & fuzzy hugs from the other hemisphere, you're doing a great job! Taking space from our work for our family's sake (when we can) is a worthwhile boundary, indeed ☀

Realising that you have to take care of your parents is so scary!! My dad is a bit younger but he's been really socially isolated and then his one proper friend died, and I feel soooo responsible for helping him to stay positive and try new social activities. It sounds like you did a really good job with helping your dad out, even though it was super chaotic! And like... Not at all embarrassing to cry over!! Being exhausted and overwhelmed at the same time is like a perfect recipe for baking up some crying, so it makes sense that that's what came out of the oven

Any time I’ve painted on windows, I mix dish soap into the acrylic paint to make it easier to get off in the end. I never really noticed it was streaky but I was generally just doing one color line work. I wonder if a little foam roller for coloring would be good for an even application 🤔

Painting on the windows: is there an acrylic spray paint you could use as base? So i wouldn't be streaky? And it could maybe scrape off with a ceramic stove top scraper/cleaner... you should test ist beforehand obvi 😅

Sending you nothin' but good energy from my end! #answermepeach - as someone who just graduated and is finally starting to be thrust into a truly "adult" lifestyle (finding housing, finding a better job, marketing myself) do you have any recommendations for someone who feels like it's just an uphill scramble? I feel like my disorganized chaos is gonna give me grey hairs very soon.
