The art of liberty starts with knowledge, responsibility and the wisdom to use them.

@AlexanderLee1 : But this is not academic art (which is what you describe), this is visionary art, which is the whole point of the AVAM. Taken from their webiste:"Visionary art refers to art produced by self-taught individuals, usually without formal training, whose works arise from an innate personal vision that revels foremost in the creative act itself." In short, visionary art begins by listening to the inner voices of the soul, and often may not even be thought of as 'art' by its creator.

@j00ed Wrong. I think that I will soon have the capability to create art, and I'm still in high school. The issue is apparent not in the credentials of the artist, but in the work itself. Art reveals the artist's fundamental view of existence (in Ayn Rand's theory). It appears that these "artists" are depressed people, and that fact is translated directly into their unskilled representations of human misery. BTW, I don't consider the stuff on my channel art, it's just practice at this point

@xer0grl So basically it's irrational art? It certainly has no aesthetic value. What then, is the reason why people should spend the time to look at it? Thanks for the explanation and definition, though.

Our unalienable Rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness should also be view through the prism of science (see my channel video). These Rights apply to all Life, and Social systems. In our enlighten age of science and technology, we know the Laws of Nature trumps mortals in power; revisiting these Rights from the vantage point of science should help make this world a better place to live.

@j00ed So, though you are opposed to the idea that one must have any knowledge or skill in order to create art, you think that one must have credentials in order to evaluate it? And I fully disagree with you on your second point. If I am to improve as an artist, I must be exceptionally critical both of my work and that of others. It is only through critical evaluation that I will be able to identify what makes art valuable and how I can improve my own work. Modesty has nothing to do with it.

@meloveanna Well that's not really true. It's essentially another form of entertainment. Just because you don't enjoy it doesn't mean it's useless. The fact that so many people enjoy making it and looking at it is evidence enough that it's practical and useful. And don't tell me entertainment serves no practical purpose, because that's just ridiculous.

@XCritonX according to their homepage "six years of a successful all-volunteer $7 million fundraising campaign aimed at opening our doors to you debt-free;" I would hazard to say that they are entirely privatefunded.

That's not art! That's a bunch of crap created by someone who has neither the philosophy nor skill to be able to create art.
