I value Spurgeon's sermons more I think, than any other pastor I have listened to. Truly the Prince of Preachers.

34'54" to 35'21" Spurgeon puts forth an incredibly thought provoking statement!!! 'Abundance of life of a sort in the demoniac bursting his chains' Do today's 'random' acts of violence parallel the demoniac referenced here?

'Life more abundant' is an inspiring message, but for many people struggling with hardship, poverty, or loss, it can feel out of reach or even discouraging. Does this promise of abundance risk being misunderstood as material wealth or constant happiness, which not everyone experiences? Shouldn’t we focus more on how the abundance Christ offers is often spiritual-peace, purpose, and grace-rather than external blessings? Maybe we need to clarify that this abundant life doesn’t mean a life free from pain, but one full of God’s presence even in trials.

Abundance in Christ means finding joy, purpose, and peace even in the midst of hardship. It’s not about external prosperity but about the deep, eternal fulfillment that comes from walking closely with God. By reframing abundance in this light, the promise becomes accessible and encouraging for everyone, regardless of their situation.

1 John 3:20-24 20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

At 8'39" the word 'Galvanize' is somewhat puzzling. And particularly so when coupled with the adjective spasmodic to describe the corpses reaction to an external stimulus. 8'33" "You may garnish the corpse and make it seem as though it were alive and you can Galvanize it into a spasmodic motion. But life is a Divine fire....." Galvanize, was a relatively new word when Spurgeon delivered this sermon and was and still predominantly is used in reference to electrically stimulating the muscles of a corpse. Spurgeon was likely widely read in the latest scientific developments and possibly was also possibly widely read, or aware of, fictional works like Mary Shelley's, Frankenstein. Published 1818. He may have used the word Galvanize to dispel any notions some in his audience may have conjectured or associated by misunderstanding what the scientific progress and fictional publications of that time were presenting. Reading the 'Reception' section of the article "Frankenstein' on Wikipedia makes me think there is more to the idea of Mary Shelley's novel that is being assiduously pursued by some and dreamt of by others. Psalm 119:169-176 169 Let My Cry come before you, oh Lord; give me understanding according to your word! 170 Let my plea come before you; deliver me according to your word.but 171. My lips will pour forth praise, for you teach me your statutes. 172. My tongue will sing of your word, where all your Commandments are right. 173. Let your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. 174. I long for your salvation, oh Lord, and your law is my delight. 175. Let my soul live and praise You, and let your rules help me. 176. I have gone astray like a lost sheep, seek your servant, or I do not forget your Commandments. As verse 169 says we all need understanding, discernment, according to God's Word and promise if we ask and pray for it.

This sermon has me coming back to listen and meditate and seek for understanding. Maybe Spurgeon is missing some possible teachings? Rev.3:1 " And to the angel of the church in Sardis write. 'The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the Seven Stars. I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead." This verse is likely speaking to the message Spurgeon is speaking to; 'Abundant Life'. The ESV has diacritical marks which point to some of the message to the church at Sardis likely should have been or should be aware of certain scripture references. Likely the entire message to the church at Sardis could be considered as meaningful to 'Abundant Life'. Also the message to the church at Laodicea is possibly significant as a warning of misunderstanding 'Abundant Life' as meaning Spirit guided life and not worldly wealth. And the introduction to this message is possibly indicative of how worldly wealth possibly leads to lukewarmness or indifference rather than being zealous, hot, about God's kingdom or hateful, cold, toward worldly things. Maybe the message to the Laodecians is particularly speaking to worldly wealth.

Hi we can't get into long dialogue on this site. However, it seems from Revelation that Satan is not the Antichrist, but gives power to him (Revelation 13:4)

In my short time of study, about five years now, I came across a preacher in Kingsport, TN., Chad Roberts of Preaching Christ Church, and you might try and listen to some of his teachings on this as it seems to be likely what the Bible teaches. I think at the website teachings on the book of Revelation are where he talks on the Antichrist. Maybe this would be helpful for you like it seems to have given me what I hope is some understanding of the Antichrist.
